Sony has confirmed that about 535,000 of its Vaio laptops are plagued with an overheating issue. According to the company, there have been 39 reports of the machines overheating to the point that the notebook deformed from heat.
Sony claims that no reports of injuries have been made. The issue affects Vaio F and C machines launched back in January. The real confusing part is that there are mixed reports of how the issue is being addressed.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Sony is recalling all of the notebooks. The AFP reports that a software fix will be issued to address the issue. Those two issues are vastly different and we need some official word from Sony on what is going on.
