Power Station Traveler is perfect for vacation road trips

Posted in Accessories by Shane McGlaun on June 3rd, 2010

When I travel with my family on road trips, we tend to take a lot of electronics. My wife can’t stay off Facebook very long and when she gets to texting, the battery doesn’t last long. The Power Station Traveler is a cool gadget charger for the car perfect for those road trips.

The thing is a carry bag with spots and grips for three devices. You plug the device chargers into the case and then connect one DC cord to the car power adapter. The case has a strap that keeps it in place when you drive.

iPad to get app for watching MediaFLO programs

Posted in iPad by Shane McGlaun on June 3rd, 2010

Qualcomm has been the company behind MediaFlow, which is the company behind the streaming TV services here in the US since the launch on Verizon and AT&T. Qualcomm’s chairman has been talking up the future of MediaFLO on other devices and the firm has its sights set on the iPad.

Qualcomm has said that MediaFLO programming will be coming to the iPad via a hardware and software combination. The combo will be an app for viewing programming on the iPad with a hardware device for shooting that programming out over WiFi.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Tablet

Posted in Tablet PC by Conner Flynn on June 3rd, 2010

Looks like Samsung is getting into the tablet action as well. The company’s official South African Twitter account has revealed a picture of a Samsung tablet, called the Samsung Galaxy Tab, sitting next to the Samsung Galaxy S. We don’t have any details to go with the pic, but it’s running Android 2.1 with the latest TouchWiz interface, offering a 7-inch display, 3.5mm headphone jack and a front-facing camera.

There seems to be a “Phone” icon sitting at the left bottom corner of the Samsung Galaxy Tab’s display, which is interesting. Rumors say that Samsung is working on three Android tablets that are to be launched this year, the first being this 7-inch model, followed by an 8-inch device in October, and a 10-inch device in December.

LG Flutter concept phone

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on June 3rd, 2010

Concept phones are cool, but not always practical. Check out the Flutter. It was an entrant for LG’s recent Design the Future contest. The design didn’t win, but it did snag the Prop Master’s Choice Award. When the phone is closed, the Flutter has a nice sleek design with only the keypad showing.

And when the phone is opened, it reveals a display that fans out, with a user interface that looks like the one on Apple’s iPhone. Pretty cool.

Posted in kindle by Conner Flynn on June 3rd, 2010

If you got the Kindle 2.5 firmware update, consider yourself lucky. Amazon has announced that it’s pushing back the update for everyone else. They need to make some “small adjustments” based on user feedback.

We have no idea what those adjustments are and Amazon isn’t offering a new date for the update. So we will know whenever they see fit to tell us. All we know is that they will be rolling out to “more users over the coming weeks.”

The speakers are available with colorful designs printed on the speaker. Nothing on price yet though. One thing is for sure, you can’t say that the designs are boring. Looks like there’s something for everyone.

RUB Chopper with smoker on the side

Posted in Automotive by Conner Flynn on June 2nd, 2010

For those who want to grill on the go, the RUB Chopper is a one of a kind chopper with a working smoker on the side. This beauty is from who else? The folks over at Orange County Choppers.

It’s for chillin’ and grillin’. Ride a little, stop to turn the meat. Ride a little more and find some place to sit and eat. Now that’s a grill I can get behind. Or in this case, on. You just wanna be careful not to burn yourself accidentally while on the open road.

Posted in Home by Conner Flynn on June 2nd, 2010

A perfect cup of coffee can really get you going. But in an office setting, you can’t really make the perfect cup of coffee. That’s where this new coffee maker comes in handy. The Xelsis Digital ID from Saeco can remember your preferences and make coffee taylored to you.

It uses your scanned fingerprints to do it. Some features include timer programming, automatic descaling and machine self-cleaning. Of course a coffee machine that uses your fingerprint isn’t cheap. It will cost you $2,500.

PS3 Twistdock looks stylish

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on June 2nd, 2010

Console docking stations are usually ugly and cheap, but this one actually looks decent. Even stylish. It even swivels. This dock will hold either the original PS3 or the PS3 Slim. It holds the console and charges two controllers at once while giving you four extra USB ports.

Sure, it takes up more space then just laying your console down, but if you love your console, why not display it as if in a museum? Maybe shine some light down on it while you’re at it. It will cost you about $100 in the UK right now.

iPad on Verizon?

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on June 2nd, 2010

The folks over at BGR claim that Verizon Wireless is currently testing the iPad’s compatibility with their CDMA network, along with a 4G model. An iPad on Verizon? That would make many of us happy.

The news comes on the heels of AT&T’s new pricing model, which is not good for data-heavy iPad owners. You might remember that AT&T had a five-year exclusivity agreement for the iPhone. There’s no indication that a similar deal was reached at the iPad’s launch, so this is very possible.

Kindle hitting Target stores on June 6

Posted in kindle by Conner Flynn on June 2nd, 2010

For some, a Kindle can be a large purchase. The kind of purchase that you would feel better about if you could see the device first hand. Plus it might be nice to be able to pick up some toilet paper and snacks at the same time, right?

Luckily for you, Amazon’s finally putting Kindles out into retail nationwide through Target stores. A trial run in April got the e-reader into Target’s flagship store and 102 other retail locations in south Florida, but now the $259 e-ink device will be available all over on June 6th.
