Some other specs include 6 USB 2.0 ports, an eSata port, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Gigabit Ethernet and a 1.3MP webcam. Not too bad for an all-in-one solution, if you live in Japan.

iPad Cardboard Arcade cabinet

Posted in iPad accessories by Conner Flynn on June 11th, 2010

In April we showed you an April fool’s iPad Arcade console. But now it’s real. This is a cardboard iPad arcade console created by Hideyoshi Moriya. It’s made of cardboard and has two arcade buttons and a joystick.

To connect the controller to the iPad an Arduino board sits inside the cabinet. It looks like the controllers respond nicely and can handle the iPad games pretty well. Now you just need some art on that cabinet.

Mario Mushroom Barbecue Grill

Posted in Grilling by Conner Flynn on June 11th, 2010

When barbecuing with Peach, Bowser and the rest of the gang, a plain old grill just won’t do. But this Mushroom grill is perfect for cooking up some Yoshi burgers. It was created by Greg Mata, who dubs it the Grilltendo.

Greg had to use special paints to make sure it would stand up to the heat. Hopefully whatever he cooks with it makes you larger or lets you shoot fireballs. It’s much better than your old rusty grill.

KlearKase Kindle waterproof case

Posted in kindle by Conner Flynn on June 11th, 2010

Two Kindle cases in two days. Maybe reading books isn’t dead after all. The KlearKase press release even goes so far as bad mouthing yesterday’s M-Edge Guardian for being twice as expensive and thrice as heavy. I guess the Kindle waterproof case wars have begun.

This 6-ounce polycarbonate case will cost you just $39.99 and Amazon will have them available by the end of the month. This one does look cooler than the M-Edge. What do you think?

I have seen my share of strange earphones over the years. Some of the strange sets I have seen look like mushrooms growing out of your ears, bolts, and arrows to name a few. A company called MUNITIO has unveiled a new set of earphones that are interesting.

The earphones are called the Teknines Nine Millimeter Earphones and are set to launch later this month. The earphones certainly fall into the premium category with a price of $250. For that much loot, you get earphones that look like 9mm bullets.

Posted in Sony by Shane McGlaun on June 11th, 2010

The PS3 has been around for a while now and the last time it was updated we ended up with the PS3 Slim. Since the thinner and cooler running version of the console turned up, we haven’t seen anything new from Sony on the PS3.

With E3 kicking off next week it appears that there is a chance we may have some announcements from Sony on new PS3 models. A couple new PS3 model numbers have come across the FCC.

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on June 10th, 2010

Philips has officially launched their new line of Fidelio iPhone/iPod Docks. The Fidelio launch is just one piece of Philips massive global marketing campaign that brings together three award winning people from producers to composers. The campaign is called “Obsessed with Sound” and the three people involved are Steven Lillywhite, Geoff Foster, and Benjamin Herman. The campaign has the trio taking consumers talking up their reasons why they live and love sound, and how they expect nothing then perfection.

Each one has an obvious Apple style. Each has a beautiful design and quality craftsmanship that will please Apple fans.

Samsung adds Facebook and Google Maps to TVs

Posted in Samsung by Conner Flynn on June 10th, 2010

If there’s one thing (well two things) I can’t get enough of on my huge HDTV, it’s Facebook and Google Maps. I just need more of both in my livingroom. Can’t get enough when I’m watching my favorite shows.

Thankfully, Samsung has announced that they are now offering Facebook and Google Maps on their connected TVs that run Samsung Apps. Thanks Samsung, but I don’t need this. There are far better things you could be offering. Watching TV is one of the things people do when they want to relax and escape from Facebook.

Android powered Coffee Maker

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on June 10th, 2010

Coffee makes the world go round. If we had no coffee, none of us would get out of bed in the morning. So it makes sense that we are always looking to improve coffee making technology. This new coffee machine concept is a bit different. And we aren’t sure it really improves things much.

It has a dock for an Android powered smartphone on top. Apparently the phone runs an app that would play music when docked, so you get have some tunes with your coffee. It has a QR-code scanner that reads the barcode-like tags on top of the coffee cartridges and plays music to go with the brand/flavor.

It can be used with replaceable lens units with magnification ratios ranging from 50x to 200x and can shoot QVGA videos at 15fps with its 5-megapixel CMOS sensor. It should hit North America in mid-June and the Japanese market by the end of June.

Mac classic makes a good dock for the ipad

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on June 10th, 2010

This is a cool mod with a retro twist. A Japanese modder took an old Macintosh classic and turned it into an awesome iPad docking station. It’s a simple idea that is executed perfectly.

The iPad screen fits nicely inside the old monitor frame of the Mac Classic and just like that you have the best of the old and new. We love this kind of creativity. Awesome job.
