ESPN3 comes exclusively to Xbox 360

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

The recently relaunched ESPN3 online portal is coming to Xbox 360. Exclusively. It was just announced during Microsoft’s pre-E3 press conference. Sportscenter hosts took to the stage demonstrating it, using footage from a USC / Ohio State game.

It has built in Kinect controller support, instant replays, highlights, polls and more, all accessible with your fingers or by the sound of your voice. It should be interesting to see how well this does. Should please many sports fans.

TILT iPad case

Posted in iPad accessories by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

You need a case to protect that shiny new iPad of yours. And Hard Graft has a new TILT iPad case. The TILT case is made from 100% wool felt and provides a lightweight yet flexible case that can be turned back on its self to create a stand for tilting your iPad.

It shouldn’t add much weight to your iPad at all. Stretchy bands hold your iPad in place with two small ones over each corner and a larger band keeping the main flap in place during transport. Hopefully it is good at keeping your device secure that way.

Letcool handheld console emulator

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

The Letcool handheld emulator sort of looks like a Nintendo DS Lite with no top display. Must have been hard to design this one. This odd handheld can handle GBA, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis and Game Boy ROMs, and future updates will also include additional support for others.

The Letcool can also double as a portable media player, playing nice with 8 different audio formats and 10 video formats. Despite the name, you don’t need to let it cool. We think. Some other features include TV-out, 4GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot, a digital camera and a battery life of 6 hours. Only $70.

An iGrill with an iPod dock? iSeeneverything now. You can now grill to your favorite tunes. Do a little dance as you flip burgers and turn your hot dogs. The iGrill is a modern grill with an iPod dock. Yep. That should sell the hell out of this grill. Or so they hope.

It will also work with other audio devices thanks to additional in-line audio support. The propane tank is used for the grill and will not power your iPod, while four AA batteries help power the speakers of this $130 grill.

Posted in 3M by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

3M, the Post It Note and technology company has recently shown off its 22″ touch-sensitive monitor which is capable of detecting up to 20 points simultaneously. So you can get extremely hands on with this one.

This 3M monitor is the M2256PW, which comes with a projected capacitive touch panel and three capacitive chips for detection purposes, with a response time of no longer than 6ms and a resolution of 1,680 x 1,050 pixels. It should hit the market for $1,500. That’s enterprise markets, not the home user market.

Genos CYCLOPS universal controller

Posted in Remotes by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

No, this is not a Klingon universal remote, but it looks like one. Genos has introduced the CYCLOPS universal controller, which they are calling the most ergonomically correct controller on the market. It is designed to fit perfectly between your hands and was originally designed to be the keyboard for the GenosTV Cable box, but it ended up as a universal remote control for TVs and devices instead.

There may even be a video game console version coming our way soon. The CYCLOPS can connect with most cellphones via Bluetooth as well. It certainly is beautiful.

500GB PlayStation 3 coming, with new Wi-Fi, Move

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

An “industry source” speaking with games site CVG, says that Sony will release two new PS3 bundles this year, both including the PlayStation Move motion controller, and one of them featuring a huge 500 GB hard drive. One of the bundles will include a 250GB PlayStation 3 and the Move motion controller.

The other bundle will include a 500GB PlayStation 3 and the Move. That may be overkill. Then again, maybe Sony knows something we don’t. Maybe they have plans that take up a lot of space.

AT&T unveils Android Aria smartphone

Posted in AT&T by Shane McGlaun on June 14th, 2010

AT&T has not traditionally offered a bunch of Android devices. This is no surprise given that Android is one of the biggest competitors to the iPhone. Which AT&T sells a massive amount of.

AT&T has added a new entry-level Android device to its offerings today called the AT&T Aria. The Aria smartphone is an Android 2.1 device with HTC Sense UI over the top. The handset has a 3.2-inch HVGA display and operates on the AT&T 3G network with 7.2Mbps speed.

sOccket soccer ball makes power from getting kicked

Posted in Green Gadget by Shane McGlaun on June 14th, 2010

I like gadgets that are functional in one aspect and then can do something completely unexpected as well. Such is the case with the sOccket. It looks like your average soccer ball and then it has a completely unexpected use — powering a small LED light.

The sOccket soccer ball has some sort of tech inside the normal looking ball that is able to generate electricity from the force of kids kicking it around and store that power for later use. This is important because many kids in countries like Africa don’t have power.

Samsung Galaxy S gets torn up and rebuilt for fun

Posted in Android by Shane McGlaun on June 14th, 2010

Some geeks really enjoy tearing up their stuff just to see what’s inside. I’m not that sort, but I will peruse the pictures of gadgets that other people tear up to see what is inside. The latest smartphone to get the teardown treatment is the Samsung Galaxy S.

It’s funny, I expected there to be more stuff inside the case of the smartphone. The folks tearing the handset down made one video for the teardown and another for the rebuild. This should be great if you have a Galaxy S and you ever need to fix it.

HTC EVO 4G Problems: Glass separation and light leakage

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

The HTC EVO 4G got off to a great start, but now some bad news is surfacing about the device, with some users complaining that the device is experiencing glass separation issues, which lead to possible light leakage.

Word is that the glass on the HTC EVO 4G’s screen can loosen from the device, and the light leakage issue could get worse when users press on the screen while trying to clean it. HTC hasn’t officially commented on the situation, but hopefully for users this isn’t a widespread issue.

Posted in iPhone by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

If you’ve been drooling over the new iPhone, you’ll still have to wait until June 24th to actually get the Phone 4 in your hands, but you can place a pre order at Best Buy starting June 15th.

That’s good news if you don’t want to pick one up at Walmart or the Apple Store. So the only thing left to decide is whether you want it in black or white. How many of you will be hitting up Best Buy stores tomorrow?

Microsoft Kinect gets official, has Video Chat

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

Project Natal” has now become Microsoft Kinect. Several demos were shown, like Star Wars and even tiger petting. The Kinect interface to the Dashboard was also shown and a video chat app where you can talk to up to four friends and also share photos.

Nothing on price or date yet, but we can expect a holiday release. Price rumors are as high as $150. Likely it will be cheaper than that since this is a console add-on and not a full console. We will have to wait and see.
