External storage solutions are a big deal and USB 3.0 made them much more usable for those with lots of data they want to back up. The extra bandwidth makes a backup with multiple gigabytes of data much faster.

Iomega has announced a couple new external storage solutions that use the USB 3.0 port. The first of the new solution is the eGo Portable Hard Drive USB 3.0. The device has 10x the speed of a USB 2.0 HDD and is compatible with USB 2.0 ports as well. The device has 500GB of storage and sells for $129.99.

The desktop version of the drive is the Iomega USB 3.0 eGo desktop Hard drive. It has the same USB 3.0 connectivity and works with USB 2.0 ports too. It comes in 1TB and 2TB capacities and sells for $149.99 for the 1TB version and the 2TB version is $229.99.
