Asus Eee 1201K netbook gets new AMD CPU

Asus has pulled the wraps off a new Eee netbook that is a bit different from the hoards of other netbooks that the company offers. The machine has a larger screen and gets its CPU from AMD, which isn’t common in the netbook realm.

The CPU inside the Eee 1201K netbook is a new AMD Geode CPU. The machine also sports a large by netbook standards 12.1-inch LCD with a 1366 x 768 resolution. The rig has a scant 1GB of DDR1 RAM.

Other features include WiFi, optional Bluetooth, a 0.3MP webcam, and 160GB of storage. Optional storage options include 250GB and 320GB HDDs. The machine has a 6-cell battery and the specs say that battery is good for two hours of use. I am wondering if that is a typo, if it’s accurate you can count on even less battery life than that in the real world.
