3M Shows off USB 3.0 powered monitor

We’ve seen USB-powered displays, but those weren’t powered by USB 3.0. 3M has unveiled some new monitor technology, by showing off an 18.5-inch 1366 x 768 pixel display powered by dual USB 3.0 ports. USB 3.0 has 5Gbit bandwidth, so it is much better at high-definition pictures, compared to the 480Mbits for USB 2.0.

Two USB 3.0 ports are used because a single USB 3.0 port offers 7W, while this monitor needs 8W. It’s looking like we will all be using USB displays like this in the future.
