The couch has an articulating back rest that is round and can be stood upright to punch when the urge hits. The back is padded so you won’t hurt your arms or legs if you kick and hit the punching bag.

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on May 3rd, 2010

Well, Steve did say that it would be revolutionary, and if you are going by sales alone, the iPad is living up to it’s master’s hype. On Friday, “just 28 days after its introduction,” Apple sold its millionth iPad. Of course, that isn’t all.

1.5 million ebooks have been downloaded to the device, along with 12 million apps. This in less than half the time it took to achieve the milestone with the original iPhone. And demand for the iPad continues to outstrip supply.

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on May 2nd, 2010

If you’re a fan of Futurama or just of robots in general, you can never have too much Bender. This Bender iPhone case is from etsy seller NOKOMOMO and comes with a matching keychain.

Admittedly, it looks as if Bender is a mask wearing bandit or has some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle genes, but it’s still a pretty cool iPhone case. You gotta love that beer-swilling cigar smoking bot, so why not show your love by buying this baby at just $24.

LG Aloha to be called Ally for Verizon

Posted in LG by Conner Flynn on May 2nd, 2010

We have news that the LG LU2300 Aloha handset headed for Verizon in May will be called the Ally instead, which is not nearly as catchy of a name. The mid-May release is on track and the specs will be the same, with a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen with 480×800 resolution and Android 2.1.

Some other specs include a QWERTY keyboard, 5-megapixel camera and support for 720p video playback. Pricing for the device remains a mystery. Maybe this one is up your ally.

Some apps blocked, throttled on 3G iPad

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on May 2nd, 2010

Looks like certain iPad apps are dramatically scaling back or even blocking the video altogether when on the 3G-ready iPad, according to some new owners. The YouTube app significantly degrades the quality of video, while ABC’s TV viewer doesn’t allow video at all unless via Wi-Fi. Only a few apps, such as Netflix, appear to work normally.

It was suspected that AT&T had demanded the limits, but an AT&T representative has denied the carrier’s involvement. Apparently the policies are so far self-imposed. ABC is allegedly prevented from streaming over 3G due to rights issues, while YouTube is most likely emulating the same bitrate scaling seen on the iPhone, with the larger screen size magnifying the drops in quality.

Desktop Microwave

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on May 2nd, 2010

If you spend a ton of time at your desk, the Desktop Microwave would be perfect for you. Sadly, it’s just a concept at the moment, but if it ever becomes real you won’t have to ever leave your desk again.

The Desktop microwave comes from the mind of designer Steve Gates, who’s life goal is apparently to make everyone fat and deskbound, with a taste for microwaved food. Oh, wait. Isn’t that the America we know and love?

This behemoth measures 200 inches, approximately 13′ x 10′ or 4m high x 3m wide. How would you like to play games and watch movies on 200 inches of plasma display?

The display is made up of 3 curved plasma displays all joined together. They installed it in the airport to give airport information but also info on traditional Japanese culture, like sightseeing locations and public entertainment within the Kansai area.
