New iPhone launching in June? |
There aren’t many details yet, but according to the guys over at BGR, some AT&T employees have confirmed that the iPhone 4G will be launched in June. That seems pretty fast since it’s scheduled to be unveiled in early June.
But maybe Apple wants to just get it over with at this point since the cat was let out of the bag awhile ago. If this is true you won’t have to wait long at all.
We’ll find out soon enough.

Seems rushed, I’m pretty sure it’s because Apple is now fearing the Android so they are trying to scramble…in the end, I think the Android will win.
This should be no surprise. they’ve done it with previous models of the iphone.
Why does one have to “win” over the other… android vs. iPhone??? crazy… Diversity is a good thing! and after all just like Windows vs. Mac OS… One is great for those who do little and the other is great for those who create and like to have fun and NOT spend time trying to install drivers and stuff like that…
iPhone is great for the user experience – FACT. Android is cool! great to have competition pushing apple along…
AT&T doesn’t even have a 4 network!
I b gankin’ one o deez soon. Steve Jobs is my nigga!
Depends what you mean by “win.” I’m sure iPhone and Android devices will both sell very well. Android definitely has the hardware advantage but the app store and marketing momentum still favor Apple.
Right after exclusive with Wal-Mart to sell the 3G at $97
This new phone is twice as fast as the last one(3gs) the android phones have been on the marker for half the time of the iPhone and only one android phone matched the power of the iPhone (Evo) and it just came out. HTC are the only company that makes android phones that can half way use the damn system. Your smoking crack if you think Apple will lose to Android phones. Google just better be happy apple has an exclusive contract with at&t because it they were on all the networks like android that would be Google a$$ in the cell phone world.
Lol there are at least ten android devices more powerful than the iphone (Acer Liquid, Motorola Droid, Google Nexus One, HTC Desire, HTC Legend, HTC Incredible, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, Dell Streak, HTC Evo and Samsung Galaxy S). Cleary, you do not know what you are talking about.
I agree with person who said this is not a competition. However Apple with it iPhone product is competing for our $. Gamers tend to think in terms of absolute win or lose, an can get quite defensive and immature about things like this (see some of the comments above as an example). But the reality is that healthy business competition is ultimately good for us consumers. It tends to breed innovation, which generally leads to better products at more affordable price points. It’s not about the companies or thier specific products winning or losing per-se, it’s about us winning or losing!
With that being said, Apple will surely sell new iPhone to it’s existing fan bas and to many new potential buyers. However, products from Blackberry and all of the various Android based products will sell quite well too. As to who will sell the most over a given period, is subjective at best.
Keep in mind a mobile phone is just a device (tool), the real power lies in what you can do/build with that tool. The cool factor is great but fleeting when everyone has the same thing. It the marrage of the phone, network, applications and options that make up the real power and value of these devices. A single U.S. carrier and limited choices in hardware and software sources, has been and could continue to be a limiting factor to the effective power and pervasiveness of the iPhone platform. This is exactly what is giving the Android based platforms the spark that was needed for them (Google+Phone mfgs.+carriers) to grow that market so quickly. A continuation of these, “limitations,” could promote even further growth of the Android market and other mobile platforms. I believe that this is what many Apple iPhone fans fear most. The potential that their beloved product might become insignificant or obsolete by in introductionb of other non-Apple branded products.
I say get over It! You bought what you wanted, it does what you need it to do (for the most part. And if it doesn’t ask yourself why do you still have it when you have options!), so be happy and donMt worry about what the other person is using for their mobile phone tool!
BTW. A new iPhone has not been named yet, so calling it the iPhone 4G or HD is premature, at this point.
FWIW: The context of this entire soap box diatribe, was voice dictated on a Moto-DROID. It’s my current tool of choice.
David, 4G doesn’t refer to a network… it’s the 4th Generation iPhone.
Apple crushes the trashcan(android) is a f***ing idiot…clearly, you don’t know the exact specs of the iphone or other android devices. the new iphone’s specs are all speculated and not confirmed. but rumors say its processor is similar to the ipad’s which is 1 ghz…so technically that’s not twice as fast as the 3gs since it’s underclocked to 600 mhz, it’s nearly twice as fast is more accurate lol…second, the most recent android-powered phones are now running 1 ghz processors…idiot!
IPhone is more attractive however Matt’s service is garbage unless you have wifi. Once iPhone is with Verizon. You can bet att will be out of business. I know. I had both services and with att I had a 64% dropped call rate. That was on downtown Tempe,AZ. In my house I did not have a signal. Verizon has superior service.
I Agree with the people that say it’s not a competition. Here’s the deal, no matter how you shake it you can’t even begin to clearly say the Android is better or worse than the iPhone. The reasoning is because all Android Phones are not built equally. Some may be better than the iPhone while others are worse. So just going off sales if the Andriod beating iPhone sales doesn’t really mean anything. It’s like saying if I combine all Windows Mobile Phones, Windows Netbooks and Windows Desktops sales against the Macbook Air Laptop must mean Windows OS us better. What people need to realize that only certain Android based Phones are comparable to the iPhone, but nit all. So sales of Andriod devices as a whole really doesn’t mean much. A true comparison and a win would be to take the Droid Incredible and see if it’s sales can outpace an iPhone. Or at least group just contedors that gave equal specs. In the end though the iPhone would probably win in my book because of the content available in iTunes. Everything else seems like it can be matched between pkatforms. It’s the content that is always king. Although If any other company can ibrain content control like Apple it’s going to be Google. Let the best company win.
Who the f%k lives in Arizona anyway?
from my much cooler than an iPhone, HTC Desire.
Dan.. You have no idea what you are talking about, saying you should compare simply the droid incredible and compare it to the iphone is ridiculous.. the iphone is much more in-elastic meaning there aren’t many substitutes for it becuase there are only so many types of iphones.. the droid incredible is far more of an elastic product because there are several substitutes such as the moto droid, evo 4g, htc hero.. so basically when there are more options the sales are spread out more.. more over for your statement to be correct you should have said take the total sales of all types of iphones, and compare them to sales of all types android.. then see who the winner is
It’s as simple as this. Google’s Android, in 12 months at most, will “win”. What do I mean by win? I mean, more phones will Android on them will be sold in each quarter than iPhones. The answer is simple, as some of you have already said: Google is Open, Apple is Closed. Google runs an unrestricted OS that gives Phone Manufacturers and Software developers something to work with, improve on, and move the OS as a whole forward. Apple is proprietry, iPhone OS will never run on any other phone, and not from any other company, and no software developed by a third party will ever be allowed, as Apple bans all apps that “Attempt to replicate features of the OS”.
So really theres so surprise – When one company refuses to let anyone else into their good product, which iPhones are to some extent, they limit themselves to a slower development and having to play “catch up”. When Google lets everyone in on their Android OS, on many phone brands and models, it will develop faster. And at the end of the day, Google, HTC, Motorola etc, will sell more phones, and make more money, while Apple will slowly recede into its caveman-like proprietorial delusion that it can dominate the market on its own.
