MSI unveils i-Charger App for charging iPad

Posted in MSI by Shane McGlaun on May 26th, 2010

When I first got my iPad, I plugged it into my computer and sat there wondering why exactly it didn’t show to be charging. After fiddling a bit I RTFM and realized the reason was that the USB port on my PC only had 0.5A and the iPad needs 1.2A.

MSI has announced a fix for any computer using its mainboards that is called i-Charger. The app can recognize what you plug into the USB port to charge. When the iPad is recognized, the app will change the USB port power profile to over 1.2A so the iPad can get power.

The app also allows for ideal charging of the iPhone and iPod according got MSI. It’s cool to see this app hit market, if you have an iPad you will want this app if your are on MSI hardware. The app works for notebooks and desktop systems.
