Toshiba confirms Windows and Android tablets

Posted in Tablet PC by Conner Flynn on April 15th, 2010

Toshiba America’s Jeff Barney confirmed awhile ago that there was a tablet coming from the company in early 2011. Now Jeff has given some more information to Reuters. He says that there won’t be just one, but at least two of them and they’ll be out before the year is through. The first will be a premium model running Windows 7, about 10 inches in size and with two screens.

The second runs Android at a lower price. Nothing further on specs. Both are for “media consumption” according to Barney. He sees slates as “expansive like netbooks.” You can take that to mean that they won’t take away from the company’s laptop business.

For that price you get a 7-inch touchscreen, a 600MHz Rockchip RK2808 processor (which might be upgraded to a Cortex-A8 before launch), Android 1.5, an SD card slot, built-in WiFi, and five hours of battery life.

It’s a bit thicker than an iPad, and supposedly weighs just 0.7 pounds, which is about half the iPad’s weight. There’s also a front-facing camera and a USB port.

Analyst predicts $299 slim Xbox 360/Project Natal bundle this year

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on April 14th, 2010

It doesn’t seem like much of a prediction, but Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter foresees a new slim Xbox 360 hardware configuration before 2011 rolls around. More specifically he thinks that the new slim version will feature a 250GB hard drive with Project Natal bundled with it, without any price reduction or increase.

That means you would be getting the bundle for the $299 price point. Unless of course, Sony lowers the price of the PS3. Then it may go down to compete with Sony.

I am not a very patient person. I want my computer to switch web pages right now, and I don’t want to wait when I click a link for a page to load. I want things to be like flipping TV channels. I really get frustrated waiting on my TV to change inputs when I am watching movies.

Silicon Image has announced that its cool InstaPort S technology will be used in the new line of Samsung LED and LCD TVs. The technology promises to change HDMI inputs in one second. That means you will not have to wait while the input looks for a source and all that.
