PlayStation Network Updates now move to Tuesdays

Right now, Xbox Live releases content like new downloadable games on Tuesdays while PSN doesn’t offer content until Thursday. But in May, Sony will now move weekly updates to Tuesdays to compete with Microsoft.

Now you’ll be able to get content as soon as your Xbox friends so you can stick your tongue out at them and act all superior. Or if not superior at least equal. Take that Microsoft.

BenQ GL series LCDs with 12,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio

BenQ’s new GL series of monitors boast a 12,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. It’s the industry’s highest and, according to BenQ, helps to add “color depth and definition to darkened and complex visuals.” Aside from that, the 18.5-inch GL930, 19-inch GL931, 20-inch GL2030, 21.5-inch GL2230 and 22-inch GL2231 models each have fairly standard specs.

We don’t have specs on all the models yet, but some of those specs include a 5ms response time, LED backlighting, and a 1,600 x 900 resolution on the 20-incher, which will be the first model available in July.

Hanshin Icreon HUWB-3000Kit wirelessly connects your PC to TV

We’ve seen other options that connect your PC to TV without any wires, but here’s one you can actually love. Hanshin’s Icreon HUWB-3000Kit supports both video and audio transmissions. And setup is simple. Just plug the USB dongle into your laptop or desktop, and connect the transceiver box via HDMI to your HDTV. You’re good to go.

It uses an ultra-wideband connection to send audio and video wirelessly to your TV, with support for 1080p. It’s not compatible with Mac yet, and we don’t have a price, but it’s coming soon.

Verbatim Store ‘n’ Go 1TB 2.5-inch External Hard Drive

Just look at all of those mouth watering colors. Verbatim‘s new Store ‘n’ Go external hard drive is based on a 2.5″ form factor and will hold up to 1TB of data. That rainbow of colors seems to match the season as well. They come in red, blue, green, white, black, silver, purple and orange.

It connects via USB and sports a Green button to send it into an energy-saving sleep mode if you care about the environment. Each drive comes with Nero Rescue and Nero BackItUp Essentials and Burn software. Your choice of 250GB, 320GB, 500GB, 640GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities for $80, $94, $107, $121, $134 and $256.

HP Flexible Wrist Display

Soldiers of the future will have all kinds of cool gear that will not only keep them safe, but also make everyday life easier. HP is one of the companies working on this cool gear. They have some interesting display technologies for one. They are working on a prototype solar-powered lightweight computer display that is flexible enough for a soldier’s wrist.

The display is just 200 microns thick, and is capable of displaying data like maps or directions and will be powered by solar cells. Prototypes go to the military next year. Once they get them, they can be tweaked and get all of the bugs worked out.

Sony Ericsson Satio hits the US

If you’ve been waiting for the Sony Ericsson Satio, you’ve been waiting for quite a while. Lucky for you the wait is over. It’s now readily available at Sony Style stores in the US. You can get it unlocked for $650. It’s been awhile as this phone was announced almost a year ago.

After such a long wait, the specifications are pretty much mid-range at this point. The 12-megapixel camera has to be the main factor.

iPad Camera Connection Kit to offer USB Audio Output?

Right now this is still a rumor, so take it with the usual grain of salt. There is speculation that the iPad Camera Connection Kit might allow USB audio output, since it’s offering you a USB port. If true, it’s an interesting development.

It might even allow you to connect some useful devices to the iPad. It also might allow you to charge your USB devices from it, like your Mifi. Then again, we are just dreaming right now. We’ll see what happens.

Buffalo launches SHD-LVS-BK USB SSD drive

USB and SSD on a device that looks like a USB flash drive? The Buffalo SHD-LVS-BK USB SSD is powered via a USB 2.0 port and holds 64GB of data. And it measures just 23mm x 10mm x 98 mm. Buffalo has even incorporated a switch to help prevent accidental deletion of old files as well as stopping new files from being written onto the drive. That will be handy.

It also boasts TurboPC and TurboCopy functions to boost transfer rates. You can choose from 3GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities for $28, $45, $77, $135 and $260.

HTC wants some help naming their new phone

Apparently HTC can’t decide on a name for their new phone. So they are asking you for help. I guess they want you to feel like you are involved in the creation process, thereby giving you a warm and fuzzy feeling.

The company’s Facebook page has a poll with the four name options: HTC Jovi, HTC Zeal, HTC Wildfire and HTC Festi. Right now Wildfire is in the lead. HTC has not unveiled any additional details aboutthe handset yet.

Sony PlayTV getting Facebook

Sony PlayTV, the digital TV tuner/DVR for PS3 that is not available in the US, is getting some “great new features,”. That doesn’t mean squat to you and I. But, if you’re in England, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, or the UAE, it means Facebook integration.

There are also some “other great enhancements,” but sadly the company is not talking about those yet. We should find out “later this year,” according to James Thorpe, PlayStation Network Product Manager.

Ripe Radish garden light concept looks like a power up

As a gamer, I know that a glowing vegetable is a good thing. I mean, this is the sort of game goody that does stuff like make you fly or turn into a giant. In the real world, glowing vegetables aren’t common.

A design concept called Ripe Radish makes a glowing vegetable common though. The red glowing portion is a garden light that you stick into the ground. The green plant out the top is a plant just as you expect.

Freeplay ZipCharge offers long run time with short charge time

I want batteries in my gadgets that last a long time. However, how fast the battery can be recharged is equally important. If the battery runs for 12 hours, but takes six hours to charge it’s not such a great thing.

A cool new portable battery pack has surfaced called the Freeplay ZipCharge. The device has a USB port for charging all manner of gadgets. The battery inside the ZipCharge can power your iPod for a full extra charge after only 15 minutes of charging itself.

Gartner reveals numbers for PC industry in Q1 2010

Gartner tracks industry statistics for computers, mobile phones and a number of other product categories. The company has published the latest numbers for the PC industry covering Q1 2010.

Gartner reports that it expected the industry to grow 22% but the industry beat expectations and grew by 27.4%. A total of 84.3 million PCs shipped for the quarter and HP was again the top shipper with 18.2% of the market.

HTC Incredible specs land on Verizon site

We already know that he HTC incredible will be landing on the Verizon network later this month. The full specs for the device have now turned up on the Verizon website.

The handset will have a 3.7-inch 480 x 800 OLED touch screen with a virtual QWERTY keyboard. The handset also sports an 8MP camera with video capture and auto focus.
