Sony’s 3D Glasses will cost $133 |
Along with Sony’s upcoming 3D-capable LCD sets, the company has announced standalone shutter glasses and an infrared emitter to drive them. Are you sitting down? For a family of four, the 3D upgrade would cost $587. Yep, that’s a lot of scratch. I hope you at least get to see your money fly out of your wallet in glorious 3D.
Sony’s TDG-BR100 and TDG-BR50 active shutter glasses will cost about $133 each this June in Japan. The emitter will cost about $55 after conversion.
However, if you buy Sony’s LX900 TV, starting at $3900, you get the emitter and two sets of glasses “free.”

This technology is not new. Infact Mitsubishi has been standing on this for a while. Its the same 3d technology they use. Their Dlps which optimize the same technology start at $900 USD. So if you spend about $1000 you could have a 60″ 1080p 3d tv. Im glad Sony is stepping in, it will help get some 3d content out there.
i wonder how many pair will be lost in peoples couches.
