Android is catching up to the iPhone OS

Posted in Android by Conner Flynn on March 29th, 2010

The iPhone OS is the king of smartphone traffic and the mobile web share right now, but the Android OS is catching up and nipping at it’s heels. Maybe it’s because of the slew of Android-powered devices that were rolled out recently or maybe less people are paying for iPhones and iPod touches these days.

RIM, webOS and Windows Mobile have a long way to go if they want to catch up. Do you have a prediction as to who will come out ahead?

The link may not work, but look at that. The Zune HD 64 has made an appearance on the official Zune website. Seems like Microsoft has something they want to tell us.

A 64GB Zune HD, which doubles the capacity of the previous model and means that we have three models to choose from. There’s no further info on it just yet, but as soon as Microsoft wants to stop teasing us and give us some real info, we’ll let you know.

Darth Vader wants to stab your books

Posted in Star Wars by Conner Flynn on March 28th, 2010

Vader doesn’t like books. When faced with a shelf full of books, he’s been known to violently stab them with his lightsaber. If you feel the same way as I do about the Star Wars prequels, these bookends would be the perfect place for any prequel-related books and movies as they will be stabbed with a lightsaber and left on the shelf.

The light saber is illuminated from the inside, powered by batteries. It’s priced at $49.95 and worth every penny.

MacBook 3D concept, glasses included

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on March 28th, 2010

Everyone else is going 3D, so why not take a look at what a MacBook 3D would be like? That’s what designer Tai Chiem has done here with this glimpse into what it could be like. This concept MacBook has stereoscopic iSight cameras, 3D glasses and a hingeless spine design.

We don’t have any info on how it all works, it’s just a dream for all of you apple fans to drool over. Somehow, I don’t think Apple will be making anything 3D like this anytime soon.

iPad clone for $290

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on March 28th, 2010

Apple’s iPad won’t be the only iPad launching on April 3rd. It will be joined by a clone from Shenzhen Huayi, who will release their fake iPad on that date for $290. That’s half the price of the real iPad.

It goes without saying that you get what you pay for though. I mean, look at that click wheel at the bottom. You certainly won’t be tricked into buying one of these based on looks alone. Probably better to spend your dough on the real thing.

Yahoo iPad app screenshots

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on March 28th, 2010

Some screenshots of Yahoo’s iPad app have surfaced, and it looks way better than their website and uses the iPad’s screen space well. In just a few days the iPad will start shipping, so it’s time to start thinking about apps.

This one will be on your list just because it looks so nice. They did a great job with the UI. I hope others are paying attention. Not at all what you would expect from Yahoo.

New iPad pre-orders will not ship until April 12

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on March 28th, 2010

The date for iPad pre-orders has been shifted back to April 12th, according to Apple’s website. People who have pre-ordered before today can still expect to get their iPads on April 3rd, so no worries there.

But those pre-ordering today & after should not expect the pre-orders to arrive before April 12th. The change suggests that Apple has completely sold out of the original online amount of WiFi iPads. 3G iPad models still have a shipping date of “late April.”
