LEGO Star Wars watches

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on March 9th, 2010

The awesome watches above are part of a new line of LEGO Star Wars watches that are arriving on April 1st. No, this is not an early April Fools joke. These watches are real. They come in kids-size and some are adult size as well.

They will cost you $22 for kids, $30 for adults, but sadly the adult watches don’t come with a minifig like the kid’s versions. Don’t they know that we adults need toys too?

Case-mate ships Hug wireless charge kit for iPhone

Posted in Mobile Accessories by Shane McGlaun on March 9th, 2010

I have used an iPhone for the last few years and I really like the thing. I don’t like having to charge the iPhone with the normal charge cable though. I have been using a WildCharge wireless system, but the case used with the charger isn’t the best.

Case-mate has announced that it is now shipping its new Hug wireless charge system for the iPhone 3G and 3GS. The Hug system includes the wireless charge base, hard case, and a screen protector. The case goes all around the iPhone and is made from injection molded materials.

MSI debuted its U160 netbook back around CES in January, but didn’t offer pricing or availability info for the machine. MSI has now announced that the U160 is officially shipping.

The U160 can be picked up in Fry’s Electronics stores or online from Newegg or Buy.com for $379.99. The netbook claims 15 hours of run time per charge with the MSI Eco mode and 6-cell battery. The machine uses an Intel Atom N450 CPU.

OO HD wireless projector concept is very cool

Posted in Concepts by Shane McGlaun on March 9th, 2010

Is it just me or does it seem like more and more of the tech products unveiled today look like robots from the films of 80′s childhood memories. Take the new OO projector concept; it looks very cool but it reminds me of flying robots from “Batteries Not Included” or that robot that you punch in the nose to turn off from one of the new Star Wars flicks.

The projector is made from a monocoque carbon fiber chassis and is wireless. It has WiFi or an internal SSD for content playback and runs off some sort of battery. The battery promises three hours away from an AC outlet.

4N watch looks crazy

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on March 9th, 2010

The 4N watch looks awesomely retro with numbers everywhere. It accomplishes the unusual look thanks to a disc-based mechanism that rotates all four numbers into position, giving you the current time.

The three discs are made of aluminum or a titanium alloy and the MVT01 movement is exposed to the eye. As usual with this kind of luxury watch, you can expect to pay a hefty price for this kind of style. There will only be 16 available worldwide.

The iPad is almost here and we’ve only scratched the surface of accessories that will be available for the device. Belkin is ready for it with some accessories of their own, like the Max Sleeve. You can pre-order yours now for $39.99.

The Max Sleeve sports a special pleated design that can be expanded, so that it will carry your iPad and a bunch of other accessories. When it is just the iPad it will stay slim, but when you need to store other stuff it will do the job with no problems.

Freescale’s 7-inch tablet runs Android, Chromium OS or Linux for $200

Posted in Tablet PC by Conner Flynn on March 9th, 2010

The $200 smartbook reference design debuted at CES this year and now it’s back, with the same price and 7-inch enclosure, but it now has an expanded OS compatibility. They have adapted the open source Chromium OS and another Linux variant to the ARM architecture and they have an Android option in the works as well.

They are working on enhancements and user experience now. One of the enhancements will hopefully be a capacitive touchscreen. Right now it requires a mouse and keyboard. Maybe we will see it hit retail soon.

Sony’s 3D Glasses will cost $133

Posted in 3D by Conner Flynn on March 9th, 2010

Along with Sony’s upcoming 3D-capable LCD sets, the company has announced standalone shutter glasses and an infrared emitter to drive them. Are you sitting down? For a family of four, the 3D upgrade would cost $587. Yep, that’s a lot of scratch. I hope you at least get to see your money fly out of your wallet in glorious 3D.

Sony’s TDG-BR100 and TDG-BR50 active shutter glasses will cost about $133 each this June in Japan. The emitter will cost about $55 after conversion.

Spoon and Fork iPhone Stand

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on March 8th, 2010

Here’s something different in an iPhone stand. It’s a little more creative than most. The Spoon And Fork iPhone Stand. It’s how Uri Geller uses his iPhone. These folk art type stands come from Etsy seller ForkedUpArt, who is not only good with a pun, but great at bending utensils.

If you need your iPhone stand spoon-fed to you, then you won’t mind forking over $30 each for these. They have character and more personality than other stands.

Stanley Construction Jobsite Radio

Posted in Radio by Conner Flynn on March 8th, 2010

Do you have a tough job that requires a tough radio? Stanley has one that you might find interesting if you are looking to play some tunes at the job site. It has everything you need. It’s rugged and it plays music either by radio or MP3/WMA via USB or SD cards.

It also features some USB charging sockets and a pair of 12V DC power sockets. It looks like it will take some abuse, which is a good thing if your co-workers don’t appreciate your taste in music. Definitely looks like it can take a hammer hit or two.

Old Nintendo NES carts turned into Harmonicas

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on March 8th, 2010

If you grew up playing NES games back in the 80′s, then you know that you had to blow on the NES cartridges to get it to recognize a game. Ahh memories. The one console that strengthened our lungs and our fingers.

Well, one modder is using that nostalgia to turn a profit with a clever mod. Seller nes_harmonica has turned some old NES cartridges into actual working harmonicas and put them on eBay. Right now you can get Dick Tracy, Legend of Zelda and Super Mario 3 with starting bids of just $7.

Dodobongo USB dog

Posted in USB by Conner Flynn on March 8th, 2010

We haven’t seen as many cool USB toys lately, but this one got our notice. The Dodobongo USB dog comes from the same folks who gave us the USB Humping Dog. This guy isn’t quite that naughty.

When you plug him in, he will bark, get up and move his head whenever he detects a human body nearby. He sure looks like he’s been eating wayyy too much food. Maybe that’s why he’s the “slowest dog in the world.” He even blushes.
