Razer pledges more support for Mac gamers

Posted in Computer Components by Shane McGlaun on March 11th, 2010

I have been playing computer games since I was a kid and have always preferred computer gaming to consoles. If you are a dedicated Mac user, you can still be a gamer. However, Mac game software and peripherals are not nearly as prolific as gear for the PC.

Gamine peripheral maker Razer has announced at GDC that it will increase its support for Mac gamers. Razer states that it will be offering a new line of drivers for Mac users for all of its upcoming products.

iPhone App Magnets for your fridge

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on March 11th, 2010

iPhone fans will want to recreate the iPhone’s interface on their fridge or other metal surfaces using these cool geeky iPhone App Magnets from Jailbreak Toys. There are 18 different magnets to choose from, measuring 7/8 square. You get an iPod icon along with email, weather, calendar and more.

So you can turn anything into an Apple device. They won’t launch any programs when touched, but it should be $13 well spent to geek up your home or office. All of your other Apple fan-boy friends will be jealous.

Posted in GPS by Conner Flynn on March 11th, 2010

Mio has introduced their S400 GPS navigation system in Korea. The Mio S400 isn’t powered by anything fancy like Android, instead it’s powered by the Windows CE operating system, along with the SiRFStar III GPS chipset.

Some other features include a large 4.3″ touchscreen display and up to 16GB of external memory thanks to a built-in memory card slot. You can get the 2GB version of the Mio S400 for about $100. Still unsure? Well, it did win China’s ‘If’ design award.

Foldable Keyboard for Tablets doubles as a phone

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on March 11th, 2010

This may be just a concept for now, but we want one. It would be perfect for tablets. It’s basically an optional foldable keyboard that acts as a phone handset. You can carry the keyboard around in your pocket since it’s separate from your tablet, but it doesn’t work by itself.

It only works while connected wirelessly to the tablet. You could carry the iPad 3G and be ready to receive calls. Will we see something like this for real? Who knows.

Individual Washer sorts your clothes

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on March 11th, 2010

This was bound to happen. Here’s a washing machine that will make it easy for those not skilled in washing clothes. The Individual Washer concept works differently than the typical washer. This upright washing machine has three compartments that will sort and wash your clothes together simultaneously.

Just put your whites in one section, reds in another etc. You won’t have to worry about color bleeding or bleaching and you’ll be saving water and electricity since it uses just one cycle.

Sony Motion Controller dubbed PlayStation Move, launches Fall 2010

Posted in Sony by Conner Flynn on March 10th, 2010

Sony’s motion controller finally has a name, the PlayStation Move. As in it makes you get off your butt and move. As in they hope to move many of them and make lots of money. Sony will have multiple packages available. A standalone Move controller, or a package with PlayStation Eye + Move + a game, or an entire console bundle. The Eye and Move and game combo will be under $100 and they ae looking at a launch window of Fall 2010.

Looks like they are going full on Wii too, as one of the games for it is called Sports Champions, a game with a bunch of smaller mini games. Another is a swordfighting duel game with a sword/mace and shield.(Sound familiar?)

Coloud Star Wars Headphones

Posted in Headphones by Conner Flynn on March 10th, 2010

When you think Star Wars headphones you probably think of headphones that are giant Yoda ears or Princess Leia hair buns, which would be cool, but these are more down to Earth. Coloud has made three pairs of headphones that feature Darth Vader, the Rebel Alliance, and the Star Wars Logo.

Each is also styled to look like the name or imagery on it. The Darth Vader pair looks really awesome in red and black. The headphones feature 40mm power drivers, padded earcups that look like they pivot, a coil cord, 3.5mm plug, 32 OHMs, and they are one size fits all.

Asus Cine5 Speaker: Surround Sound in a small package

Posted in Speakers by Conner Flynn on March 10th, 2010

The Asus Cine5 is a smaller version of the sound bars that are available. This model is designed not for your large TV, but for your desk. The Cine5 measures in at about 15-inches, with a typical five speaker set up and a 28W max amp. There’s also a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones.

It’s good looking as soundbars go, but sadly, we don’t have any word on pricing or availability yet, but hopefully we will be seeing this one soon.

Zune HD2 already on the way?

Posted in Zune HD by Conner Flynn on March 10th, 2010

Seems like just the other day the Zune HD arrived, but already rumors are circulating about a Zune HD2 that “will be similar to an iPod Touch,” and could ship this year. It could be part of the “Windows Phone 7 Series platform” and run Windows Phone 7 apps.

There’s no word on when we might see this theoretical Zune HD successor, but a Zune with the Windows Phone 7 interface might be just the thing Microsoft is looking for to tie it all together. Hopefully we will hear more about this soon.

Toshiba plans home tablets for late 2010

Posted in Tablet PC by Conner Flynn on March 10th, 2010

Toshiba wants a slice of the tablet market just like everybody else, so it will be rolling out its own line of tablets to compete with the iPad. The company thinks the line will arrive sometime later this year, or early 2011 if that doesn’t work out.

Toshiba isn’t entirely new to the tablet market. They had previously rolled out the Journe Touch in Europe last year. No word on what OS Toshiba’s new tablets will run, but our guess would be windows. It’s also way too early to talk price.

Quirky Cloak Apple iPad case

Posted in iPad accessories by Conner Flynn on March 10th, 2010

As the Apple iPad launch date gets closer, more accessories are becoming available. Mostly frames with kickstands. This latest accessory is the oddly named Quirky Cloak. It’s designed to look sleek and protect your iPad at the same time. It’s made from non-slip rubber and has a durable plastic hinge on the edges.

The iPad loads into the top of the case and once inside is held firmly in place by a friction grip. The Quirky Cloak is designed so that the iPad can sit on a surface in landscape mode, or stand up with a kick stand in portrait mode.

It’s available for pre-order for just $30. They should ship around April 16th. What are you waiting for? Go get one. I’m sure they won’t last long.

Coolest baby furniture ever for your geeklings

Posted in Furniture by Shane McGlaun on March 10th, 2010

I remember putting together the crib for my son. It took a while to get the thing put together and then I realized it wouldn’t roll through the door to his room after I built it in the living room. It seemed like only a few weeks later he needed a toddler bed and we were throwing the crib out.

If you have young geeks and you want some cool baby furniture that you can use for a while, Andesen furniture has a concept that is just for you. The Smart Kid furniture starts as a crib with drawers under and beside the bed to store things in.
