Posted in Fujitsu by Conner Flynn on March 16th, 2010

Eighteen hours is a long time. I’m on my laptop at least that long everyday, though I have to be plugged in. That power cord is like a leash, my friends and we are but chained dogs. Fujitsu wants to set us free with the new ProGREEN line.

The 14-inch Lifebook E780 has an 18-hour battery life. Yes 18 hours! There’s also the 15.6-inch Lifebook S710. Both are Energy Star 5.0 certified, with LED backlit screens.

Razer DeathAdder for lefties

Posted in Mouse by Conner Flynn on March 16th, 2010

Being right-handed, I will never know the lament of the lefty. You guys need the special scissors and even your own special mouse. And since most of us are right-handed, you are often left out in the cold. It might be easier to just conform to the “right” way, but if you choose not to, then Razer has a mouse for you.

The Razer DeathAdder Left Hand Edition. It’s a mirrored version of the DeathAdder, with the same 3500dpi sensor with 1000hz polling, braided cabling, and five programmable buttons.

Posted in Intel by Shane McGlaun on March 16th, 2010

The price of SSDs are starting to come down where many computer users might be considering buying one. You can now get a few low capacity SSDs for around $100. The catch to these cheap SSDs is that they don’t offer much storage making them really only useful for boot drives.

Intel has unveiled its new X25-V SSD with 40GB of storage space. The SSD sells for $125 in quantities of 1000 and is aimed at notebooks, netbooks, and desktop computers looking for a fast boot drive for the OS and critical applications.

The Decelerator prevents your Prius from going all Carrie on you

Posted in Automotive by Shane McGlaun on March 16th, 2010

If you watch TV, read the paper, or surf the internet you know that Toyota is in a world of hurt over sticking accelerator pedals. Interestingly they are not the only carmaker to have problems with sticking accelerators. Ford recalled the SVT Cobra Mustang in 2003 for a sticking accelerator issue that had to do with the carpet. A stuck accelerator on a blown 390 horsepower sports car is not a good thing.

If you drive a Prius or other car that was covered in a recall or are just afraid your car will speed out of control for no apparent reason, The Decelerator might give you peace of mind. The ting is some sort of electrical thingy that plugs into some unspecified part of your car.

Versus network comes back to DirecTV

Posted in Home Theater by Shane McGlaun on March 16th, 2010

Last summer I was all set to watch some MMA fights on the Versus network on my DirecTV service. When I went to watch the fights Versus had been pulled from DirecTV and in its place was a page that said Versus wanted too much money and DirecTV pulled the station.

I was not happy. If you were in the same boat, Versus is coming back to DirecTV. DirecTV and Versus have announced that the two firms have settled their differences and the Versus station will come back to all DirecTV packages that had the station before.

Posted in Headphones by Conner Flynn on March 16th, 2010

The Astro A40 headset is designed for professional gamers and costs $250. The A30′s will only cost you $149, which is still way too expensive for a pair of gaming headphones, but closer to what we can all afford. The A30 has features like a detachable mic so you can use them as normal headphones after your gaming.

But it doesn’t ditch the amp and cords setup that made using the A40′s with the Xbox such a chore. Maybe that doesn’t bother you and if so, these look like they’re worth checking out if you have the scratch.

Millennium Falcon Dreamcast

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on March 15th, 2010

She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts. Very true. Especially when you cram a Sega Dreamcast into a Millennium Falcon toy. User “Pezzapoo” of the Ben Heck forums sure made this one look good.

The DC game port facia fit into the toy with only about a millimeter to spare. That’s when he knew it was magic. In case you were wondering, two side docking ring fans keep the hot DC from melting. Anytime some modder puts a console in a Star Wars ship, somewhere far far away, an X-Wing gets it’s wings.
