WikiReader gets update with improvements in usability

Posted in Handheld Entertainmnet by Shane McGlaun on February 9th, 2010

You might recall the WikiReader from when it first appeared back in October. The device is a small handheld gadget that lets a user check out Wikipedia entries without an internet connection.

Openmoko, the firm behind the gadget, has announced that a new update for the WikiReader is now available. The update adds new Wikipedia entries to the database and improves usability. The keypad is improved and now functions more like the iPhone keyboard.

The update also makes for smoother scrolling and adds a back button to let users go back to the previous entry read. The update is available as a free download or it can be purchased on a pair of microSD cards for $29.
