Remember the Samsung NX10? It’s a hybrid DSLR using a new format created by Samsung which is slightly bigger than the Micro Four Thirds format and smaller than the DSLR format. Samsung has just announced five news lenses for the NX10, which includes an 18-55mm f3.5-56 lens, a 20mm f2.8 pancake lens, a 60mm f2.7 macro lens, a 20-50mm f3.5-56 lens and an 18-200m OIS f3.5-63 lens.

The new lenses are smaller than standard DSLR lenses since the NX10 doesn’t have any mirrors inside.

Green Max Robot Toilet Transformer

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on February 22nd, 2010

When is the last time you saw a toilet Transformer? It’s a first for me too. There’s actually a toilet maker called TOTO in Japan, who makes “Greenmax” toilets. To market these porcelain thrones they are using this robot action figure. TOTOROBO’s signature catchphrase? That would be “Protect the Earth, GMAX! Ready – Switch, on!”.

It’s too bad that with all the good the company does the environment with their toilets, the creation of this plastic toy with such huge packaging sort of undoes all that and flushes it all away.

The CompactFlash Association has announced a new 5.0 standard that will increase the addressing from 28 bits to 48, resulting in an explosive amount of storage gained. It means that the new format can hit 144-petabytes once flash technology catches up.

Also, photographers and videographers will be able take advantage of some new safeguards that guarantee a minimum level of performance while preventing dropped frames, especially in HD.

43-year-old woman seduces 14-year-old boy on PlayStation Home

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on February 22nd, 2010

Here’s an interesting story involving Playstation Home. The police are looking for a 43-year-old mother of three in Oklahoma City for seducing a 14-year-old kid on PlayStation Home. No offense to the suspect, but looking at this pic, I’m hoping her avatar was a real knockout.

Annamay Alexander of Deltona, FL apparently met the kid on Playstation Home and started sending him messages and even a picture of her in her underwear. After that the nutjob traveled to Oklahoma to see him and met with his mom, though she claimed to be there to talk about the kid wanting to marry her daughter. Yes, she’s clearly not playing with a full deck.

Wal-Mart is buying Vudu movie service

Posted in Set Top Boxes by Conner Flynn on February 22nd, 2010

According to the New York Times, Wal-Mart will acquire Vudu, the online movie service. Looks like it will be a good match since Wal-Mart sells a boat-load of DVDs. Vudu gives them an easy way into the streaming market without having to build something from the ground up.

For Vudu it’s good as well. They’ve never been profitable, despite having their players embedded in increasing numbers of TVs which may have turned that around eventually. Walmart should make it easy to build on that momentum.

Designer Jason Wu, famous for dressing Michelle Obama and other celebrities, has worked with General Imaging to design new line of GE branded digital cameras called Create by Jason Wu. The line is offered in multiple colored metal versions and leather clad version.

Geek offers broken stair from Apple Store on eBay

Posted in Apple by Shane McGlaun on February 22nd, 2010

I think Forest’s mom was right when she said stupid is as stupid does. It’s pretty stupid to abscond with a 250-pound glass stair from the fancy staircase in the flagship Apple Store on 5th Ave in NYC. How exactly you would get it out of the store is an interesting question.

An auction over on eBay has said stair for sale by the guy who admits to nabbing it before the Apple workers could throw it away. The guy says it was cracked when a bottle was dropped on it and replaced. Said stairs allegedly cost $10,000 each.
