Gateway updates FX gaming desktop line |
Gateway has been offering gaming desktops for a long time now. Gamers are still one of the few groups of computer users willing to spend lots of money on a desktop. Most other computer users prefer notebooks today. Gateway has changed the FX design with a new chassis and new hardware.
The new case has a tray for storing things on top f the PC and front mic and headphone jacks. The more interesting of the two new models announced is the FX6831-03. The desktop has an Intel Core i7 860 CPU, ATI HD5850 graphics, 16GB of RAM, 1.5TB of storage, a DVD burner, and a Blu-ray drive.
All those features carry a price of $1,699.99 and the machine uses Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. If you can’t spend that much, the FX6831-01 shaves $400 off the asking price of the 03 version by cutting the Blu-ray drive and using 8GB of RAM.
