Ultimate Ears unveils new 6-speaker in-ear pro monitors

Posted in Logitech by Shane McGlaun on January 14th, 2010

Logitech bought earphone maker Ultimate Ears long ago. I have used some of the consumer earphones from Ultimate Ears before and they are fantastic. The brand tends to be expensive, but they sound great. According to Ultimate Ears, 75% of the musicians on tour use its pro monitors.

The company has introduced its latest set of professional custom monitors called the 18 Pro Custom. The monitors are the first set from the company to use six speakers. Each ear gets six tuned drivers with no distortion.

The design also uses four-way crossovers that are tuned acoustically and electrically. The 18 Pro monitors require a custom mold from an audiologist to be made. Once that mold is ready the monitors will set you back $1350 plus another $50 for the ambient noise option.
