Samsung first to mass produce 3D TV panels

Posted in Samsung by Shane McGlaun on January 27th, 2010

I am more excited about the prospect of 3D TV in my living room than I was at the thought of HDTV a few years ago. This year we will see lots of new 3D TVs and 3D content hit the market for home users.

Samsung has announced that it will be the first major panel maker to start mass producing 3D panels in LED and LCD styles. The screens will require active glasses and boast 240Hz refresh rates. The refresh rate will allow for 120Hz to each eye.

Samsung also reports that it has reduced the response rate of its panels to under 4ms for less interference between eyes. The active shutter glasses alternately block each eye to provide realistic 3D effects.
