PETA wants Punxsutawney to use robot groundhog

If you ever needed more proof that a group of supporters for a cause that is actually pretty good can really mess things up and look like morons, look no further than PETA. PETA is the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and they routinely toss red paint on fur coats and make other dumb moves.

The dumbest thing they have ever done may well have occurred this week in Pennsylvania. Each year about this time, we start thinking about Groundhog’s Day. As the legend goes if the groundhog sees its shadow, we get more winter, but if it doesn’t see its shadow, spring will come sooner.

PETA has said that it’s unfair to keep the world’s most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, in captivity and subject him to huge crowds. I would have though meeting Bill Murray would have been worse than the crowds. PETA actually wants a robotic groundhog to replace good ol’ Phil. The keepers of Phil say he is treated better than the average child in Pennsylvania is. The biggest issue with PETA’s request is that we are at least a decade away from robot groundhog technology reaching maturity.

LOL what a bunch of nut jobs, the lady who heads it is quite crazy. Like you said, its a good idea and basis for an organization, they just have no clue on the right way to implement it They could of done so much more for animal rights if they hadn’t gone all ecoterrist.
