Apple iPad specs

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on January 27th, 2010

Here are the specs on Apple’s new tablet, the iPad. We’ve been waiting forever and we finally have the low-down. The device is .5 inches thin, weighs 1.5 pounds and sports a 9.7 inch IPS display with Full capacitive multitouch. The device is powered by “our own silicon”. The 1GHz Apple A4 chip. It’s available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities.

Some other specs include WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, accelerometer and compass, speaker, microphone, 30 pin connector and they have achieved 10 hours of battery life, with over a month of standby time.

“It just works” seems to be the theme as they keep saying it over and over. And it does. Extremely well, with no apparent hiccups.

too heavy…needed to be less than a pound

  2. MacDaddy Says:

So no cellular capability? Looks like you need to unlock bluetooth tethering with the iphone if you want to sell these

  3. Jim Says:

@ Prem. its .5 lbs meaning its less than a pound. I think you read it as 5lbs. Which most laptops are less than 5lbs and a tablet at .5 (1/2 of a pound) is amazing

  4. Chrome262 Says:

If it was more powerful and had a few usb ports it could displace the Mac Air. I really don’t see the gap he mentioned. its going to be a tricky juggling act to keep from displacing other products. And i mentioned it before, Ipad???? not a good name.

  5. The Bear Says:

@ Jim. it’s actually .5 inches thick. it’s 1.5 lbs meaning it is more tan a pound. way to go.

  6. Korona Says:

    Flaws:No usb
    :No GPS
    :No cellularity
:Can’t connect a mouse & keyboard so it’s the same crapy thing as iphone
    :Low store capacity
:Same thing as ipod/itouch with a bigger screen

  8. doctorK Says:

Jim, check your spec sheet. it is 1/2 inch thick (.5) and 1-1/2 lbs (1.5) so it’s over a pound, my friend…….

  9. blademan Says:

    Korona,
A it does connect to USB
    B it does have GPS
C no it’t not a cell phone but you would look pretty silly holding a 9.5 X 7.5 inch cell phone up to your ear.
C you can get a keyboard dock and you can even use a bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse, not that you would need it with the big touch screen keyboard.
D at up to 64 GB it is 16X the storage space of kindle DX.
Oh and you can get almost 140,000 apps for it,try doing that on a Kindle

So it is more like an ebook on steriods that lets you do a lot more than just read a book in black and white.
