Ford’s next generation of Sync systems will have yet another useful feature. This time around it’s built-in Wi-Fi, turning your car into a rolling hotspot. You’ll be able to share a 3G connection with a driver-defined list of devices.

Of course you’ll need to use your own 3G card, which will plug into the Sync’s USB port. I’m sure other auto makers will offer Wi-Fi soon as well. Then we really will always be connected.

Here’s another portable media player vying for your hard earned dollars. The Newsmy A78HD is a 7″ device that packs in 720p support as well as TV Out, allowing you to watch your high definition videos on your HDTV.

Or you can watch them on the 800 x 480 resolution touchscreen display. It’s not bad looking. Supported video formats include RM, RMVB, AVI and FLV. As for audio compatibility there’s MP3, WMA, APE and FLAC. The Newsmy A78HD will also handle gaming, using 64-bit ROMs.

We know that many of you still haven’t received your Nook eReader yet, but here’s some good news. The latest firmware update, version 1.1 has been released.

Calm down. There isn’t anything too exciting happening here, but if you use your Nook a lot, you’ll notice some speed improvements. The update also fixes some other issues. For instance Page updating on the display should be faster. Page numbering issues have also been fixed. And navigation on the color screen is apparently improved.

Pinetrail is now official and the major netbook manufacturers are starting to unveil their new line-ups. Here is one from Fujitsu, who has just officially announced their new MH380 netbook. The device certainly looks unique. Design-wise it has some rounded edges and stands out from the crowd thanks to a half-sphere indentation next to the trackpad for circular motion scrolling.

The MH380 sports an HD-capable 10.1″ glossy screen, a 1.6 GHz Atom N450 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 250 GB HDD, card reader, 1.3 MP webcam, 10/100 LAN and 802.11n WiFi. It also has Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and weighs only 1.3 kg. The battery is 6 cells.

The huge battery recalls from a few years ago showed that a flaw in the battery could have serious consequences for computer makers and consumers. Several batteries short-circuited and caught fire leading to property damage on more than one occasion.

Panasonic has introduced new battery technology that not only offers longer run time for laptops, but promises to be safer too. The new batteries use a standard cell form factor and pack in 3.1Ah per cell compared to the 2.9Ah of current cells.

I really hate when the good prices you hear on commercials or read in ads for mobile phones are after big mail-in rebates are applied. It takes forever to get the rebate money back and many of us end up forgetting to send the rebates in anyway.

Best Buy Mobile cuts through the mail-in rebate crap and just gives you the discount price up front. The company has announced a deal on the HTC DROID Eris that is running through December 26. You can get the handset for free with a new contract if you are a Reward Zone Silver member.

Every few weeks it seems like a fresh round of rumors about an Apple tablet sets the tech world on fire. People really want tablet form factor devices to hit the market. That fabled Apple tablet isn’t here yet, but there are some other tablets that are here or are coming really soon.

Engadget went hands on with a new Android powered tablet called the ICD Ultra. The tablet has a 7-inch screen and runs the NVIDIA Tegra T20 CPU. It has 512MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM. Storage capacity is 4GB and the tablet has integrated 2G/3G radios.

The App Store is huge business for Apple with a billion apps downloaded so far. Most of the downloaded apps are sure to be free ones, but there are a large number of paid apps being downloaded too.

Tapulous, the company behind the TapTap Revenge games, has announced that it clears a cool $1 million monthly from the App Store. That amount includes money from paid games, ads in games, and song purchases in its games.

The economy is tough even for some giant companies. Pepsi is one company that has decided not to air commercials during this years Super Bowl. One company who will be running a commercial this year is Motorola who will be showing off the Motorola Droid.

Sources say that Motorola has bought at least one ad slot. Motorola has been heavily promoting the Droid, so we are guessing that the ad will be droid related. In the past, Motorola has promoted the RAZR, PEBL and other phones during the Super Bowl, so it makes sense.

There have been some rumors for a little while now about a PSP-4000 and some of them say that it might reinstate the UMD drive. Well, now it looks like an advertisement in a UK magazine for a PSP accessory has actually mentioned the PSP-4000.

Listing the supported devices for the PSP accessory, they show a PSP-4000 in the list. Many of you hate the UMD, but probably just as many would like the UMD drive back on the PSP. What do you think?

How thin can LCD panels get? It’s never enough for LG who is getting ready for CES 2010, where they intend to show off the new “worlds thinnest” LCD TV panel.

LG has announced a new 42-inch 1080p panel that’s only 2.6mm (or .1 inch) thin. The prototype LED-backlit 120Hz display is light as well at just under 8.8 pounds. Sadly we don’t have any other specs on it yet, but we will learn more when CES kicks off in Vegas very soon.

Dell has announced a new version of the Inspiron Mini 10. The new case is designed for a six-cell battery that will deliver nine and a half hours of use without all the bulk. Inside it features that next-gen Atom which can be paired with an optional Broadcom Crystal HD video accelerator for HD video playback.

You also have four case colors to choose from, Bluetooth, WWAN, GPS, a TV tuner, and a 1366 x 768 display. Prices start at $299 when it becomes available in early January.

The debate continues as to whether or not cell phones can harm us, but one state may be ready take the next step in warning consumers about the dangers. If she has her way, a Maine legislator wants to make the state the first to require cell phones to carry warnings that they can cause brain cancer, even though there is no consensus among scientists that they do.

Cell phones carry these warnings in some countries, but right now no U.S. states require them. A similar effort is underway in San Francisco, where Mayor Gavin Newsom would like his city to be the nation’s first to require such warnings. These measures seem premature, given the fact that there is no hard data to support the claims.

The Nokia Booklet 3G has been available in the US for a few weeks now, and soon it will be available in the UK starting in January. Nokia has the Booklet 3G listed on their online shop for £649, and you can pre-order it now and it will ship in January.

Some features include an Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz processor, 1GB of DDR2 533 MHz RAM, a 120GB 1.8 inch 4200 RPM SATA hard drive with 8MB of cache, with a 10.1 inch LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720. While £649 seems pretty steep for a netbook, probably some UK mobile phone operators will offer a subsidized version with a contract.
