3D Blu-ray ready by summer 2010?

3D Blu-ray ready by summer 2010?Looks like we might be able to enjoy 3D Blu-ray movies by next summer. According to NVIDIA’s PR manager for the UK and Northern Europe, Ben Berraondo, the Blu-ray Association has finally agreed on the details of 3D Blu-ray.

NVIDIA’s 3D Vision Technology will be able to display this new standard, but most of us would need to upgrade our existing hardware as many HDTVs run at a 60Hz refresh rate, while 3D films require a refresh rate of 120Hz. I’m still not sure this 3D thing isn’t just a fad, but I guess no one wants to miss out, so every company is jumping on the bandwagon.

Who’s ready for geeky glasses?

It was a fad the last time it came around, and unless they have some really stunning technology up their sleeve rather than the old two picture method I’m certain it will still be a fad this time.

    Glasses? No, thank you.

Besides, what about those who don’t have stereoscopic vision? What benefit is it for them?

(kinda my same reasoning for not upgrading to Blu-ray. Why should I buy a new player, a new tv, new CABLES, new audio, and shell out an extra $10/disk when dvds work just fine? At least with VHS to Dvd all we really had to do was buy a separate player)
