iPaq Glisten smartphone from HPTwo big shots with initials, HP and AT&T just announced the iPaq Glisten. It’s a GSM Windows Mobile 6.5 Smartphone with an AMOLED display. The Glisten features a unified inbox and comes pre-loaded with the Facebook app for Windows Mobile.

It will cost $299 with a two year contract. Specs include: GSM 3G world phone, 2.5″ AMOLED Display, Windows Mobile 6.5, 3.1 Megapixel Camera, GPS, turn-by-turn navigation and Mobile office.

Kindle gets 85% more battery Life, PDF supportAmazon has announced a hardware update that will up the Kindle’s battery life by 85%. That’s roughly about 7 days instead of 4. The battery life for sleep mode is unchanged. And you should know that the first Kindle won’t benefit from the power management update.

Users have also been waiting for PDF support for the Kindle and Kindle 2. Now you can copy PDF files via USB and use them. You can also convert PDFs to the Kindle format when sending an email. This PDF support is basic: it’s not easy to zoom, create bookmarks and the PDF files can’t be indexed for search.

RIM and Motorola sued for alleged patent infringement

motorola-logoPatent infringement suits are very common and more and more they are being fought in courts in East Texas. The judge in the area is known to side with the patent holders and as a result, cases from all over the country are ending up in the rural Texas courts.

The latest such case is being filed by Klausner Technologies. The firm holds patents that have to do with visual voice mail features. Klausner alleges that the Blackberry bold 9700 and other Blackberry handsets infringe on its patents.

Samsung offers 2TB Story Station Plus external HDD

samsungstorystation-436x480Samsung has a line of external hard drives that are aimed at users looking to back up their data called the Story Station. The line uses 3.5-inch HDDS and is currently available in 1TB capacity. Samsung announced a new version of the drive is coming soon with new features.

The new drive has 2TB of storage space and has both eSATA and USB connectivity. The eSATA connectivity allows the drive to operate at 3Gbps transfer speeds. The 2TB of storage is enough for 500,000 MP3s or 560,000 digital photos.

TomTom offers details on Walmart exclusive GPS devices for Black Friday

tomtom1-125-sgBlack Friday is this week and shoppers are already gearing up to storm retail stores early to get the best deals before they sell out. Two GPS from TomTom are being offered at Walmart including the TomTom One 125 SE and the TomTom XL 325 SE.

The units have many of the same features including TomTom Map Share technology, 30-day maps guarantee, Help Me menu and both are ready for optional services like traffic and fuel prices. The two differ in screen size with the 125 SE using a 3.5-inch touchscreen and the 325 SE offering a 4.3-inch touchscreen.

LG X120 netbook comes to America with AT&T

lgx120-sgFor a long time only Europeans were able to take advantage of subsidized notebooks and netbooks with wireless carriers. The deals are now common in America as well, though the prices for the machines are typically not all that discounted compared to just buying the netbook outright.

LG has been offering its X120 netbook in Korea for a while now and has announced that the little machine is now coming to America. The netbook has a 10.1-inch screen, built-in webcam, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB HDD.

This guy measures 293.5mm x 28mm x 101mm and uses X-Type membrane technology for super silent key strokes. So you can type like a ninja, silent and deadly. Well, maybe not so deadly, but still silent.

Some other features include 2.4GHz RF that works from up to 10 meters away, a built-in opto-mechanical trackball with two mouse buttons, status LEDs and it runs on two AAA batteries. The KeySonic KSK-3200 RF will cost you about $74.

Buffalo’s USB 3.0 External Drive arrives in the U.S

Buffalo HD-HXU3 USB 3.0 hard drive shipsBuffalo’s DriveStation HD-HXU3 is the first external USB 3.0 drive to hit the U.S. It promises to deliver transfer speeds up to 4.8Gbps and Buffalo has a two-port USB 3.0 PCI Express card to get you going.

There’s no info on price yet on the USB 3.0 PCI Express card (IFC-PCIE2U3), but it will likely be about $60. The drive itself is $200 for 1TB, $250 for 1.5TB, and $400 for 2TB, and it ships with Memeo AutoBackup software for both the Mac or PC.

Now you can leave a note to whoever you like by recording a 30 second video message with the press of a button. Think about it.
