The Sony Vaio VGN-FW590FFD comes with a 16.4-inch LCD display, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard disk drive, a 2.53GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 processor and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 graphics.

"Star Ship" ChandelierCheck out this “Star Ship” Chandelier that boldly goes where no lighting has gone before…while skirting copyright and licensing issues by offering up a generic chrome finished and terrible re-imagining of the Enterprise.

The back looks like it came from the original Klingon ships, while the front is very much like the Enterprise’s saucer section reinforced with Erector set parts. It’s still pretty cool though and would fit into any geek home nicely.

Troll Touch debuts new iMac and MacBook touchscreensTroll Touch just announced some analog resistive touch kits for the 21.5″ and 27″ iMacs along with the unibody MacBooks. Prices start at $1,099 and go up from there. You can also buy new machines with the kits already pre-installed starting at $2,299.

Notebook owners will need at least $699 to join the party. No, it isn’t cheap, but Mac users are used to that. Delivery is scheduled to begin before December 1, 2009. Just in time for the holidays.

The M3310 is a music-inclined dual-slider with external music controls that features stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 2.1, integrated FM radio with RDS, a 2.1″ QVGA display, 3.2-megapixel and a microSD memory card slot. It will be available in black and white.

The Samsung B3410 offers a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2.6″ QVGA display, TouchWiz 2.0 UI, quad-band GSM/EDGE connectivity, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.1, a 2-megapixel camera and a microSD memory card slot.

Barnes & Noble sees heavy demand for Nook e-book reader

Barnes And Noble e-Book reader revealedIf you want to get a Nook for this holiday season, you better get on that right away. The Nook is proving so in demand that they are pushing the second wave of pre-orders into the first week of December.

Many customers are delaying their order until they see the e-book reader in person at Barnes & Noble. Apparently display units should start arriving at the end of November, but it looks unlikely that there will be any units to sell. That means that you may have to get it sight unseen if you want delivery before the holidays. The cost is $260.

The accompanying app has a manual tune wheel or auto-seek, social network integration, bookmarks and iTunes Tagging and can be downloaded for free.

With a wealth of new devices like the Kindle, Nook and others on the market, many will find a new eReader under the tree this year. Dulin is now offering a couple new eReaders in America.

The readers are the Pocketbook 360 with a 5-inch e-ink Vizplex display and a 400Mhz Samsung processor. Memory for the device is expandable to 32GB and it comes in black or ivory colors. The PocketBook 301+ is very similar.

Intridea has a new app for iPhone users that will at least eliminate problems trying to find your car called Car Finder. The app works on iPhones running the 3.1 software and overlays data using the live camera view of the iPhone.

Nokia issues recall on 14M mobile phone chargers

The last time Nokia issued a recall on something it was for batteries that posed a fire hazard. Today Nokia has issued a recall on about 14 million mobile phone chargers. The chargers pose a shock hazard to users.

Nokia points out that it did not build the chargers, they were built by a third-party Chinese maker. That maker is paying all the costs associated with the recall. The recall covers chargers model number AC-3E and AC-3U models, manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009; and the AC-4U model, manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009.

Global CPU shipments grow significantly for Q3 2009

idc-logoAccording to research firm IDC, the global shipments of CPUs for Q3 2009 have grown at more than double the normal quarter to quarter rate. The latest figures are in and the global CPU market grew 23% for Q3 2009 compared to Q2 2009.

The most growth of any CPU segment was in the netbook CPU category where shipments grew 35.7% over the quarter. Desktop CPU shipments grew 11.4% and x86 server processors grew 12.2%. The global CPU market revenue was over $7.4 billion, a growth of 14% from the previous quarter.

Envive has announced that it is now shipping its line of TheaterStation multi-zone digital media management system with centralized storage.

The line comes in a 2U rack mount, 1U rack mount, and a desktop tower form factor. The 2U rack mount product can be had with up to 14TB of storage. The 1U model can have up to 6TB and the tower is good for up to 4TB of storage.
