NOVA Concept DSLR |
I love video games, but I’m not into photography. That probably describes many of us. This might be just the camera for me. Something that will bridge the gap between games and pictures.
It’s from designer Erin Fong and is dubbed the “NOVA DSLR”. The folding handle is obviously great for taking one-handed shots. And hey, it’s shaped kinda sorta like a game controller, so I already know how to use that. If a Klingon Starship and a camera mated, this is it right here. Look at that design. Those swooping wings. Looks like it could take down a Federation camera-ship.
What do you think? Good design or crap?

With film-based cameras, form followed function, but there’s no reason (aside from tradition) that digital cameras must adhere to a traditional camera shape. That rectangular box format may be comfortably familiar, but it’s far from ergonomic.
Yeah, because the camera really needed reinventing…
I’m not against giving the DSLR a new form, but this one looks like a pain to stow away in a bag. I’d rather have my clucky rectangular brick, thank you!
I felt Sony was onto something when they came out with the f707. The tilting lens was awesome. I could shoot from up high or down low and see exactly what I was getting. I no longer had to keep the camera up to my eye. I guess it never caught on.
This looks pretty cool but, whether it sucks or not depends on a couple things; quality of image, actual ease of use, whether bumping those easy to reach buttons happens when you least want it to…
I don’t see the viewfinder in the viewfinder in this picture and that’s a big factor. To me, it looks like a very high quality webcam. I need to know the specs and take it for a test drive before I can say whether it’s crap or not.
