codmw2-sbVideo games are big business around the world with top tier titles making more than many movies rake in. The most popular games end up turning into some of the most popular franchise around as well. This is what happened with the Call of Duty franchise.

Activision has announced that the Call of Duty franchise has now racked up more than $3 billion in sales around the world. That is a ton of money and surely makes the CoD franchise one of Activision’s best.

The franchise was certainly helped by the latest installment called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The new game sold over $550 million in the first five days it was available. The huge sales numbers also mean we should have new titles to enjoy for years to come.
