verizongatewayIn many parts of the world, subsidized notebooks and netbooks have been common for a long time. Here in the U.S. subsidized notebooks have really only started to be offered over the last year. Verizon Wireless has announced the latest addition to its notebook line, the Gateway LT2016u.

The device is set to go on sale with Verizon on October 4 for $149.99 after a $100 mail in rebate. The netbook has a 10.1-inch LED backlit screen and a 6-cell battery for power. The CPU is an Intel Atom N270 and it has 1GB of RAM and 160GB of storage.

The machine is your average netbook with the only different being it offers Verizon 3G internet access for $39.99 for 250MB per month or $59.99 monthly for 5GB of bandwidth per month. If you are planning to get a new computer and need mobile broadband anyhow, this may be a decent deal for you.
