Palm Pre starting stronger than the iPhone in the U.K

Posted in Palm by Conner Flynn on October 13th, 2009

Palm PreLooks like people in the UK are really digging the Palm Pre. The Palm Pre is more anticipated than the iPhone with 26% of mobile users having some interest in getting one. The iPhone scored just 16% of interest back in 2007.

Many users want to switch to O2 from another carrier just to get the Palm Pre. This is really saying something, because as we all know, the iPhone still has the upper-hand as far as marketing and awareness. Very interesting. We will have to watch and see what happens. Any predictions?

I think it’s obvious. The Palm Pre is a far superior device than the iPhone. Apple has been sleeping on the job while the Palm has worked very hard on such a succesful device: small form factor, physical sliding keyboard, removable battery, multitasking, etc.

3rd party developers for the iPhone are the only folks working hard and keeping the iPhone from sinking. While iPhone developers built hundreds of apps, Apple had been fiddling with their thumbs on finally releasing their latest hi-tech iPhone capability: MMS and Copy/Paste; pathetic indeed.

However, 3rd party developers for the iPhone aren’t as dumb as Apple thinks. Many are expanding their revenue streams by creating Palm Pre apps so they can cash in on the growing bandwagon. Apple do not own 3rd party developers, so if they don’t improve the iPhone device itself at the same pace or faster than the Palm Pre, the UK will not be the last country to favor the Palm Pre over the iPhone.
