Say you’re a bad guy. A villain. The Joker maybe. You want to taunt Batman, but you need a new gimmick. Aha. Tell Batboy that there’s a bomb in this GPS Puzzle Box that will go off in exactly one hour. But here’s the catch Batbrain, you can only disable it by opening the box. And the box will only open at a specific location. So after Batman gets the box and zips to the location in the nick of time, he’s able to open the box. Inside he finds not a bomb, but a pop-up Joker face. Meanwhile, you’ve been gassing Gotham city, which is now yours.

Well, you could use this Puzzle box like that. It was built as a wedding gift by Mikal Hart. It only opens when it’s in a specific location, and the puzzle involves discovering just where that location is. There’s a button and an LCD display on the lid. When you press the button, the display shows you how far, in kilometers, you are from the goal location. It doesn’t give you directions, so you need to triangulate and you can only press the button 50 times.

Remember that rumor about RIM working on a Bluetooth watch to accompany its phones? Well looky here. We may now have the first real renderings of the final product. It may be called the “inPulse” and it features an OLED display, real-time message preview, and probably caller ID.

Looks like the watch isn’t being developed by RIM. Instead, work has been farmed out to a company dedicated to the BlackBerry aftermarket. An official announcement is coming “soon.” Thing is, Bluetooth watches haven’t been great sellers, but maybe more compatibility with the Blackberry is the trick.

Acer has announced that its AspireRevo is now available in America. The AspireRevo is a great little nettop that is designed to mount behind a TV or LCD screen making a slick little HTPC machine. The little nettop sells for $329.99.

For the money, you get some nice specs including graphics via NVIDIA Ion. That means that the nettop can support full 1080p HD video and play casual 3D games. The machine uses the Intel Atom 330 dual-core processor.

We already know all there really was to know about the ATI HD 5770 and 5750 video cards ahead of their official launch. The cards turned up online in benchmarks a few weeks back showing decent performance for the price.

Today AMD went official with the new video cards and the specs we heard in the leaks turned out to be accurate. Namely, the 5770 has 800 stream processors and a core clock of 850MHz. The card has a memory clock of 1.2GHZ and will come in 512MB and 1GB versions using GDDR5 RAM.

Dell has been teasing us for over a month now with shots of that mega thin and sexy Adamo XPS notebook computer. The thing little beast first dropped in a teaser image on 9-9-09 and since then Dell has offered up a few more teaser shots.

Today Dell finally offered the price and a lunch date for the machine. The Adamo XPS will be available on October 22, the day Windows 7 launches. The notebook will sell for $2,000. That is certainly not cheap, but honestly I wouldn’t have been surprised if the machine was $500 or more higher than that price.

T-Mobile is continuing its Android assault with the CLIQ. The MOTOBLUR-running, physical keyboard phone is now available for current T-Mobile customers for $199. New subscribers have no choice but to wait until November 2nd to get one.

In this country we don’t generally let small kids walk the streets alone, but in Japan it’s common to see children of say 6 or 7 seven years-old walking the streets by themselves, so it’s good news that they have KDDI’s child safety device called the Mamorino.

KDDI has teamed up with security firm SECOM and designed the phones to prevent kids from being abducted. The unit features a GPS system that lets parents keep track of their children, while at the same time getting them into mobile phone culture at an early age.

The Alex looks similar to the Android-powered Barnes & Noble reader, but this one sports a 6-inch display using monochrome e-ink (not color), but it also has a secondary 3.5-inch color touchscreen that lets you browse the Web.

Yeah, VERY similar to that Barnes and Noble reader. Spring Design claims that it’s “enlisting major content partners, and plans to release the Alex for selected strategic partners by the end of this year.” Interesting.

We don’t have a ton of details on this one and the official launch won’t happen until January 7 at CES, but Plastic Logic is looking to get into the high end of the e-reader market with its upcoming QUE proReader. The device uses E Ink Vizplex tech in a shatterproof display the size of a regular piece of paper at 8.5 x 11-inches.

It also features 3G wireless capabilities thanks to AT&T and a business-minded ebook store at QUEreader.com to be powered by Barnes & Noble. And yes it has a touchscreen interface, but we aren’t sure if that means the entire display or not. The unit is “less than 1/3-inch thick,” and plays nice with PDF, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, including tools for “interacting with and managing the content,”.

Like everyone else, right now Sony has a thing for 3D. They have big plans for putting the technology into your living room as soon as possible. The first application will be applied to the flat screen TV, but Sony is looking at all kinds of other ways to bring you glorious 3D. Take this small prototype for instance.

This thing will be revealed at Tokyo’s Digital Content EXP0 2009 on Thursday. It’s a 13 x 27-cm device with a stereoscopic, 24-bit color image measuring just 96 × 128 pixels, viewable at 360-degrees without special glasses. If this prototype ever becomes a reality, Sony sees its commercial use in digital signage or medical imaging and of course, as a 3D photo frame.

Livescribe has added new products to its Pulse Smartpen portfolio for Holiday Gift Giving. The pen is now available in both 4GB and 2GB models with a new titanium color. The 4GB version can hold up to 400 hours of recorded audio and provides enough storage for apps for entertainment and education.

The 4GB model sells for $199.95 and the 2GB version sells for $169.95. Livescribe is also offering a Pro-Pack bundle that includes the 4GB pen in black, an A5 size notebook, premium leather holder, handwriting to text software, and the Pro Charging Cable for $249.95.

Haleron has just released a new sporty looking netbook in the form of the Swordfish Net 20, which comes with an Intel Atom 330 Dual Core processor, which won’t drain your battery as much as the previous dual processor model that the company offered awhile back.

Some other specifications include a 10.2 inch LCD display with a resolution of 204 x 600, a 160GB hard drive which is upgradable to 250GB, 2GB of DDR2 Ram, and an unlocked 3G modem.

Neiman Marcus hasn’t heard about the recent economic downturn and so they want you to buy this $200 wood box that’s been jazzed up with some fancy design. It doesn’t even look that great. See that matching keyboard holder under the monitor with the pull-out keyboard tray? It’s an additional $200.

In Neiman Marcus’ world they see no problem with you spending $400 for boxes to that will ugly up your PC. This Ugly Betty is just for the PC and “Not compatible with Macintosh computers.” With shipping and processing at $42 for the CPU stand and $31 for the keyboard holder, by the time you pay tax, it’s over $500.

Verizon has launched a smack-talking offensive against the iPhone, with a new campaign called DroidDoes.com for their upcoming Motorola Droid Android smartphone. The handset, previously known by its codenames of Tao and Sholes, is being promoted as offering everything the iPhone can’t: an open development platform, the ability to run background processes, a flexible open App Store and replaceable batteries, etc. They really do some trash talking. Verizon has even set up a countdown timer showing that the Motorola Droid will arrive on October 30th 2009.

The teaser site starts off with some statements, all using the familiar i-prefix and in an Apple-style font. Stuff like “iDon’t run simultaneous apps”. Then a countdown page, with specs of the upcoming Motorola smartphone.

SplitFish, the company that sounds like it suffered tragedy on a butchers table and lost all of it’s insides, has announced that the SFX Frag Pro controller will be shipped on November 10th, 2009.

As some of you already know, the controller has a mouse section with a 2000dpi sensitivity as well as a FREVO “Fragchuck” section that functions as a gaming controller for the PC and the Sony PlayStation 3. The SplitFish Dual SFX Frag Pro Controller will cost you $90 each.
