Dell has unveiled what it claims to the smallest 12.1-inch rugged convertible tablet PC with multi-touch technology. The machine is called the Latitude XT2 XFR and is 1.5-inches thick and designed to meet MIL-801G requirements. The convertible tablet has compression sealed and rugged I/O doors.

The keyboard and LCD are also sealed and have IP54 level protection against dust and water. The machine weighs 5.4 pounds with a 4-cell battery and an SSD for storage. Dell offers optional 6-cell and 9-cell batteries as well. Other specifications include Intel Core 2 Duo processor, up to 5GB of RAM, and optional hot swappable modules including GPS. The machine starts at $3,599 and is available now.
