Homemade Enterprise Galileo 2 in the backyard

Posted in Sci-Fi by Conner Flynn on September 22nd, 2009

Homemade Enterprise Galileo 2 in the backyardA Star Trek fan with a lot of particleboard built himself a USS Enterprise Galileo 2 shuttle in his backyard. A backyard that could actually pass for some of the original Trek’s “alien worlds”. It’s not just the outside that looks authentic, the inside is awesomely detailed as well.

Some of us didn’t even have a stinkin’ treehouse as a kid. If I knew what back yard this was in I would go there at night dressed as Captain Kirk and play until the wee hours of the morning.

Intel debuts concept notebook with four displaysHere’s a notebook for some extreme multi-tasking. Intel’s latest laptop outdoes them all with a large primary display, along with three sub-displays above the keyboard. These little OLED touchscreens will be able to display video, music playlists, whatever your wandering attention span desires.

They can work as a single screen or as one continuous surface (the “albums” in the video spill across multiple screens). It’s mainly a proof of concept intended to show that they’re working on these kinds of displays for their laptops.

Space Foosball turns Foosball into a video gameWe’ve seen some crazy Foosball tables, but nothing like this one. It’s clearly from the future and it’s name is Space Foosball. Basically they’ve turned foosball into a tabletop video game.

Sure it takes some of the fun out of it. No spinning paddles that kick a real ball around the table. But think about it. The players can now be anything. Donkey Kong Vs. Mario, Space Invaders… The possibilities are endless.

PS3 Motion Controller coming in March?Above is a Microsoft Word document from SEGA America’s official FTP site in SEGA’s news directory. It could be there as a joke, but if it’s real, then it reveals some interesting details. Mainly that Sony will be launching its PS3 motion controller in Japan in March of 2010, then elsewhere in the Spring.

There are also details of PlayStation 2 emulation on the PS3 and that “SCEA wants to sell all PS2 titles on PSN (GTA Vice City/Sonic/etc).” Want more? Maybe they will announce it at the Tokyo Game Show which starts Thursday.

Luckily, for Cellular South customers HTC didn’t give a major carrier an exclusive on the sweet HTC Hero Android phone. The device will hit the Cellular South network soon with preorders starting on October 5.

predatorvx360Extreme sports fans like to show people all the crazy stuff that they do from sky diving to swimming with five four year olds at once (which I assure you is very extreme) the catch is most cameras can’t stand up to the rigors of this type of use. What these people need is a camera like the Predator VX360.

The VX360 is a wearable camcorder that is water resistant and aimed directly at the extreme sports market. The camera is waterproof to three meters and robust enough to survive impact with rock and the salt from seawater.

R2-D2 Gaming Rig holds 8 game consoles and a projector

R2-D2 Gaming Rig holds 8 game consoles and a projectorThis R2-D2 may be the best mod ever. It was created by Popular Science reader Brian De Vitis and holds not one, not two, but eight consoles, a sound system, and a projector. You had me at eight consoles R2. This all started with an R2-D2 shaped cooler that he modified.

Then the consoles were gutted to rearrange the controllers inside so all the ports could face in the proper direction. He still had enough space inside for a projector and a sound system. This man is my new hero.

Microsoft confirms 802.11n Xbox 360 adapterMicrosoft has confirmed the 802.11n adapter for the Xbox 360. Which is great and all, but that’s about it. No mention of price or a launch date. The big M did say that the adapter will offer “another choice to consumers,” which probably means that the original adapter will be around for a while, probably for a cheaper price.

So it’s confirmed, but that’s about all we’ve got. We pretty much knew that already. We’ll let you know more when we know more.

Red and Black XBox 360 controller for your XBox 360 EliteThis black and red X-Box 360 Controller reminds us of Thrustmaster’s Ferrari controllers, without all of the logos. If your X-Box 360 could use a little flair, why not get this bold controller.

It’s an official release from Microsoft and will be available on October 15th. This would go well with the all black X-Box Elite or even the Resident Evil console. The X-Box 360 Controller & Charger retails for $69.99 at GameStop. Looks kinda spider-like.
