Sniff the dog hunts down gadgets using RFIDImagine having a dog that can sniff out your gadgets and also be able to identify and react to anything that’s appropriately labeled with an RFID tag. It does this because each tag triggers a specific response. Sniff vibrates and make noises to respond to various objects.

Sniff was created by Sara Johansson, Timo Arnall and Einar Sneve Martinussen; students at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. They wanted a concept for a stuffed animal that would be perfect for kids with impaired vision. This one certainly fits the bill and has a lot of promise.

RIM working on a touchscreen QWERTY slider hybridWord on the street is that RIM is working on a new BlackBerry. One that will feature not just a touchscreen display, but also a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Such a device would definitely give users the best of both worlds and it adds flexibility.

The touchscreen would offer ease of use, while a QWERTY keyboard makes composing emails and text messages a breeze. At the moment this is just a rumor, but it wouldn’t surprise us at all.

EU to mandate MP3 player volume limits

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on September 28th, 2009

New ZuneHD imagesThe European Commission has set volume limits for MP3 players in all European Union member states. This means that your Zune HD or other mp3 player will not be allowed to output anything louder than 80 decibels under the default settings.

Officials argue that the limits are necessary since devices can play music at levels loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage and they do so without warning listeners. The EU mandate will still allow users to override the settings as long as they’re informed about the possible consequences.

Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat for the Nintendo Wii

Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat for the Nintendo WiiYou know what the Wii has been missing? The good old old Louisville Slugger. Makes sense when you think about it. Louisville Sluggers are for more than just baseball. I’m thinking a Wii home invasion title, where you wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of a robber. You could get points for different weapon choices. The good old old baseball bat is a favorite of home defense.

Then there’s all of the fighting games where you use a bat. Well, now you’ll be swinging a real one. Well, not real, but better than a plain wiimote. The Force Unleashed is a whole new game when wielding a bat.

Good times no doubt. And you’ll remain comfy through all of your shenanigans, since these Jedi robes are made of soft 100% cotton velour. Of course, the Jedi logo is embroidered on the front. And the hood is large enough that you can hide your face in shame when you wear it in public.
