Zune HD torn up for your (dis)pleasure

Posted in Microsoft by Shane McGlaun on September 16th, 2009

zunehdteardown-sbI am not sure how I feel about the companies that tear up perfectly good gadgets to show us what’s inside the shiny case. I guess it’s much better than me having to tear into my own gadget out of morbid curiosity.

The gang over at Rapid Repair has torn their shiny new Zune HD asunder for your viewing pleaser, or displeasure depending on how gadget squeamish you are. It appears that that teardown is relatively easy to accomplish and you are sure to void your warranty if you open your own up.

iMac Hamster Cage on EbayThis is as good a use as we’ve ever seen for an old iMac. Basically somebody just gutted the monitor and created a new home for their pet. Somehow he managed to completely gut it without cracking the thing.

If you want your own hamster living in luxury, this original blue iMac cage is available on Ebay. It can be yours for $350. Great way to force your hamster into Apple loyalty.

Haunted toilet paper roll

Haunted toilet paper roll plays the sounds of the undeadWe’ve all been in a bathroom where it smells like the undead, but have you ever heard the sounds of the undead coming from your toilet paper roll? This is a toilet paper roll holder that plays such sounds when you pull at the TP.

I suppose it’s a Halloween novelty item and is not intended to help you drop a deuce. Because frankly Zombie sounds don’t help me. Perhaps Zombies are constipated and that’s why they make their sounds. If that’s the case, maybe this is supposed to encourage more roughage.

Hitler is furious that the iPod Touch has no camera

Posted in Humor by Conner Flynn on September 15th, 2009

Adolph was really looking forward to the iPod Touch getting a camera. We all were. I mean there’s a space for a camera in the thing. Why didn’t it get a camera? He makes a good point. I’m sure he’s not alone when he says that he will no longer drink the kool-aid.

Why does the Nano get all of the cool new features? Be warned, there’s a bit of bad language in the subtitles.

MiNEW A10 Hello Kitty Nettop

Posted in Hello Kitty by Conner Flynn on September 15th, 2009

MiNEW A10 Hello Kitty NettopNo offense to teen/tween girls everywhere, but some things just make you want to vomit. One of those things is this the MiNEW A10 Hello Kitty PC. There goes my lunch. It’s the usual assault of pinkness, cuteness and kitty-ness.

Under the hood you won’t find anything special. A netbook with an Intel Atom processor, 1GB RAM, Intel GMA950 chipset and a 160GB SATA hard drive etc. No word on pricing, but trust us your daughter is going to ask for it.

Bose SoundDock 10 is HUGE, costs $600

Posted in Bose by Conner Flynn on September 15th, 2009

Bose SoundDock 10 is HUGE, costs $600Bose has seen fit to park an iPod in front of a monolith. This thing must weigh 20 pounds. The subwoofer is the size of a child’s head. And it costs $600. Yet they still call it an iPod dock. It’s about a foot tall. It’s not really all that portable, which I guess it isn’t supposed to be.

The dock connector can be swapped out to suit different players, or, for an extra $150 you can get a stereo Bluetooth adapter. Bose also threw in a composite video port, so you can see photos and videos on your TV.

Belkin Home Base for wireless printing and file sharing

Posted in Belkin by Conner Flynn on September 15th, 2009

Belkin Home Base for wireless printing and file sharingThis is something that many of us have been waiting for. A box that adds all kinds of connectivity options to any networked PC, instead of making consumers purchase separate devices to add NAS capabilities and wireless print sharing.

This is that box. Belkin‘s Home Base handles everything. It includes four USB 2.0 sockets and an Ethernet jack. When connected to your home router, a printer and at least one external hard drive, any machine on the network instantly gets wireless printing abilities and network access to your USB HDDs. But that isn’t all. The Home Base can wirelessly backup your connected PCs by itself and it sports an automatic sharing feature so that you can send photos to Flickr without a care.

Cap Wrench Bottle Opener

Posted in Tools by Conner Flynn on September 15th, 2009

Cap Wrench Bottle OpenerWe’ve seen tons of bottle openers around here, but this one is perhaps the manliest way to open a bottle ever. Men know two things. Opening bottles and working with tools. And since I’m a man I like to think I know a little something about both.

Craftsman’s Cap Wrench Bottle Opener is basically a opener that acts as a fulcrum and weighs a solid 0.64 lbs. It’s made from solid steel. If your buddies see you opening a beer with this thing, they are gonna know who the alpha dog is. Right tool for the right job.
