epson-logoEpson is still better known by most people for its line of printers and their very expensive ink cartridges. The company offers lots more than printers though including a full line of home theater projectors and projectors for the classroom.

Epson has announced new projectors for the home theater enthusiast including the PowerLite Home Cinema 8100 and the 8500 UB. The 8100 has a dynamic contrast ratio of up to 36,000:1 and a brightness of 1800 lumens. It will sell for $1599 starting in late-October.

The Epson 8500 UB is the higher-end projector and will sell for under $3000. For that much loot you get a dynamic contrast ratio of 200,000:1 and 1600 lumens of brightness. The projector is a 3LCD unit with Epson’s D7 chipset and UltraBlack technology. A Silicon Optix HQV Reon-VX scaling and de-interlacing video processor is included.
