Sony placing PS3 slim manufacturing orders for delivery in July?French gaming site JVN today claims to have confirmed Sony’s slim PlayStation 3 through an unnamed retailer in the country. According to the source, wholesalers expect the slimmer, redesigned PS3 in September along with a price drop of 100 Euros to €300.

These new systems would come stark raving “naked,”… Without games. And stores haven’t been told what’s included in the hardware. Speculation is that a 120GB hard drive will be stock. If this pans out and Sony loves America, US pricing would drop from a minimum of $400 to $300.

LEGO Minifig Dynamo FlashlightWe all love us some LEGO, whether in statue form or as a Foosball table, or whatever. This one takes a green approach, combining LEGO and a flashlight.

This 7″ tall Lego minifig has a set of white LED lights in its right foot that can be used as a flashlight. It’s powered by a dynamo, so you can charge it up by cranking the minifig’s left arm. Yeah, it isn’t really a minifig at 7″ tall. We know.

Orbis is more maneuverable than a Segway

Orbis is more maneuverable than a SegwayThe Orbis has it all over the Segway. It’s half as big as the Segway, has easier maneuverability in tight spots and folds down for storage. It also sports a 13 mph top speed and is battery powered. Eat it Segway.

It isn’t all awesomeness though. It has some obvious balance issues. Those can be worked out though with some time and money. At the moment it’s just a concept, but a good one. It will likely come to pass, since this thing is like the hot rod of the Segway culture.

I always knew that Blu-ray would win the format war with Sony on its side selling the PS3. The PS2 helped get the DVD player into the homes of gobs of people and I figured the PS3 would do the same for Blu-ray.

Toshiba was the main backer of HD DVD and when its format was defeated it stayed out of the HD format market for movie players. The company decided this year to get back into the HD payer market and has announced that it has applied to be part of the Blu-ray disc association.

Iowa County launches nation's first '911' via Text MessageCalling 911 can save your life, but there are some situations where if you talk, you are endangering your life further. Maybe you are hiding from a dangerous killer for instance. Or maybe you had a stroke and can’t talk. Well now Iowa County has launched the Nation’s First 911 via text message.

So far, the service is only available to residents of Black Hawk County who subscribe to a T-Mobile service provider, but that could grow. Emergency text messages can be helpful for deaf, hard-of-hearing or mute victims who find themselves in a dangerous situation.
