Rotgutonix tells you if there is Rotgut in your alcohol

Posted in Uncategorized by Conner Flynn on August 14th, 2009

Rotgutonix tells you if there is Rotgut in your alcoholDo you want to make sure that the alcohol in your drink is worth drinking? The Rotgutonix is a chemical sensor that will test the quality of the alcohol in your glass and let you know if there is “rotgut”. And if your bartender can be trusted.

How else are you going to make sure you are getting the good stuff? Maybe they are just selling you the cheap stuff. Just dip the Rotgutonix into your drink and if it’s good, it will display the type of alcohol or brand on the device. If it’s bad, you’ll get a skull and cross bones showing that your drink has rotgut.

Shuttle has announced that it has certified several of its barebones computers to work with Windows 7. The company’s product team certified the barebones systems with Windows 7 Ultimate RTM. Shuttle says that all of the tested machines are ready to use and have appropriate drivers from various manufacturers.

Rock Band Metal Track Pack coming

Posted in EA by Shane McGlaun on August 14th, 2009

rockband2-logo-sbI am a big fan of Rock Band and the last track pack I bought was for some friends that like country music. The only downside to the Country Track Pack was that it was over very quickly. If country isn’t your thing, a new metal track pack is coming soon for Rock Band.

EA, Harmonix, and MTV Games have announced that a Metal Track Pack is coming on October 13 for Rock Band and Rock Band 2. The track pack offers 20 tracks and six of them are new to the platform. That means the majority of the songs are not new so you will want to be sure you don’t already own some of them before you buy. The pack will sell for $29.99.

The full track list is below:

InFocus updates some projectors with wireless connectivity

Posted in InFocus by Shane McGlaun on August 14th, 2009

infocus-logoI like projectors, though some uses of the devices are more fun than others. Business types use projectors for boring things like presentations and demonstrations of products. I prefer to use them for massive screen gaming and watching movies.

Whatever route you prefer, InFocus has announced that some of its projector models are going to be available with wireless USB connectivity. InFocus has joined with Wisair, a leading maker of Wireless USB hardware, to integrate DisplayLink wireless connectivity into their projectors.

If you are a heavy user of social media like Facebook and YouTube a new app from a company, called yourBusinessChannel may make keeping everyone updated on your life easier. The app connects to Facebook and YouTube allowing the user to post comments to YouTube videos that are also posted to Facebook at the same time.

Atari 2600 console mod with built in screenSure we’ve seen all kinds of mods where they toss the Atari 2600′s case and hack them into a proper portable, but what if you want to keep the aesthetics of the console intact? You put a 5″ LCD screen and the joystick controls right on the console itself of course.

This one goes by the “Stella-Tubby v1.0″ moniker. And it can actually be yours since it’s on Ebay. It even runs on a pair 9V batteries so it is portable. Kind of. Think of it as an Atari tablet.

Wilcraft amphibious ice-fishing vehicle

Posted in Automotive by Conner Flynn on August 13th, 2009

Wilcraft amphibious ice-fishing vehicleThis is the Wilcraft amphibious mobile ice-fishing cabin. It’s for serious ice fishermen. It will carry up to 600 pounds of fish, with a top speed of 20mph. The best feature is that if you are on thin ice, you won’t sink in and freeze to death as the Wilcraft will float. That not only saves you, but all of the fish you’ve caught.

The Wilcraft can also be used as a hunting or even an ice rescue vehicle. It gets about 20 miles per gallon and should you decide you need an outdoor fortress, it will cost you $10,495. This might just be the new all purpose camping/fishing/hunting type vehicle.

Rocking chair to armchair in just 20 seconds

Rocking chair to armchair in just 20 secondsRocking chairs are great for just kicking back and relaxing, but I don’t own one because I wouldn’t use it very often. I would just use it a bit, then go back to my armchair. Now if I could convert that rocker into an armchair, that would be perfect. “Fotel” by designer Peter Vardai does just that, and in only 20 seconds.

Optimus Prime ain’t jack if you can’t sit on him. Eat it Optimus. This design concept features a carbon fiber frame with springy and comfortable elastic bands on the seating surfaces. It looks pretty sweet and modern too.

Cute Robot reacts to your friends’ tweets

Cute Robot reacts to your friends' tweetsWhat could be better than getting robots to interpret the world of social networking for us? Why should we do all the work? That’s what robots are for. This cute little guy just sits on your desk and while he may not reply to your tweets, he understands the emotions of your friend’s tweets and whether they are happy or sad.

If he finds a “happy” tweet, the Guardian Robot raises its head and arm in triumph. It holds the pose until you give it a “high five”. (By hitting the switch in its hand.) Then the robot passes the high five on to your buddy via a reply Tweet.

Toshiba Satellite L355 17″ laptop for $348Toshiba’s Satellite L355 is a 17″ laptop running an Intel Celeron Processor. It’s got a great price and you know what that means. Sure, there’s no HD, webcam and the processor is on thew slow end, but if you do not do any serious computing, it’s a winner. It features 3GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive.

Samsung ND10 Netbook comes OS freeHere’s something you don’t see everyday. We like it. Samsung has launched the ND10 netbook and is allowing you to purchase it OS free. By being free and unshackled of any OS, it allows the buyer to choose what ever OS they want to install, whether it’s XP, Android or Linux.

The ND10 is pretty similar to the NC10 in specs and sports a 10.2 inch screen, an Intel Atom N270 processor and over seven hours of battery life. They are pretty much the same, with you saving $50 by installing your own OS.
