Creepy Hand Leash for lonely dog-walkers

Posted in Pets by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2009

Creepy Hand Leash for lonely dog-walkersHow many times have you been walking your dog and said to yourself, I wish I had a companion that would share the walk with me. If you then entertained the notion that failing an actual human, a dismembered hand would do just fine, then this is for you. And it will identify you easily so the rest of us can stay the hell away.

It’s the Hand-Shaped Dog Leash designed by Alice Wang. So that you can sway your hand and pretend that you have a special someone as you walk your dog.(Who must be intelligent enough to be scared of you and your corpse hand.)

Xbox 360 Lara Croft caseI know, you can never have too much Lara Croft right? And since I haven’t heard of a new Tomb Raider game on the horizon, I’m sure you Lara Croft fans would love to get your hands on this Lara Croft themed Xbox 360 case.

This mod sports 43,000 colorful crystals and is sadly only available in Germany. You’ll need to raid your bank to come up with the $11,000 necessary to get your hands on this one. Yeah, I hear ya. Maybe if it showed more of her body it would be worth it, right? Seriously, stop wearing out your DVD version by pausing it on the action scenes, hoping to get a glimpse of Angelina Jolie’s nipples. You can’t afford this.

Shrinking jug keeps milk fresh longer

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2009

Shrinking jug keeps milk fresh longerNormally shrinking jugs requires reduction surgery, but that’s not the case here. This concept jug is designed to maximize your milks shelf life. Lets face it, as soon as you open a gallon of milk, it starts the process of spoiling. So how do you combat spoilage?

By reducing the air in the container. It’s the air that is milk’s enemy. It encourages bacteria and such that make it go bad. This shrinking jug is called “Fresh,” and it will keep the amount of air in contact with the milk at a minimum, because the container collapses as the milk goes down.

Kenyan students charge cellphones with pedal power

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2009

Kenyan students charge cellphones with pedal powerThis DIY gadget is dubbed the “smart charger” and it’s from two Kenyan students who reside in rural areas without electricity. They also use bikes to get around. Jeremiah Murimi and Pascal Katana use a dynamo attached to the bicycle in order to charge cellphone batteries. The whole process costs practically nothing.

They used parts from old discarded radio and television sets to assemble the small charger. The user is able to plug the dynamo lead right into the device. An hour of pedaling can fully recharge the battery in about the same time it would take if it was plugged into an electrical outlet. The idea is that the user would avoid paying $2 each time for battery recharges by making a one-time smart charger purchase worth about $4.50.

Man climbs wall like Spiderman, using vacuum gloves

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2009

Jem Stansfield climbed to the top of the BBC White City building in west London. But here’s the thing: He wasn’t bit by a radioactive spider and his girlfriend isn’t named MJ. No, he managed the climb using some DIY vacuum gloves that were made out of a regular household vacuum cleaner.

Unlike Spidey, he was secured with a safety harness tied to his back, just in case. He built the gloves himself, in a stunt for a new BBC One science show called Bang Goes The Theory.

30th anniversary Pac-Man lighter

30th anniversary Pac-Man lighterThere are not nearly enough lighters for gamers, so we were stoked to see these 30th anniversary Pac-Man lighters. These Zippos don’t just slap Pac-Man onto the outside either. They feature three pretty awesome designs.

We really dig No. 1 and 2. Our only problem with them is that it took 30 years to give us some awesome Pac-Man lighters. The actual 30th anniversary is next year, but it looks like we are off to a good start.

External Blu-ray drive coming to Xbox?

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on July 26th, 2009

Microsoft denies Blu-ray player rumors for the Xbox 360This one is interesting, even though we’ve heard it before. Just as Toshiba is announcing that it will be delivering a Blu-ray drive of it’s own, Microsoft could follow suit. At least that’s the word on the street.

The big M might be readying a Blu-ray drive add-on for the popular Xbox 360 gaming console. The company did offer an external HD DVD drive before, built by Toshiba. The new drive is seen as more feasible, both because of Toshiba’s support and cost reductions, which could make a USB Blu-ray reader affordable.

The newest Best Buy ad shows the handset on sale for just $99 on a two-year contract. That’s $100 less than the previous price. The timing is interesting. This comes just a few days after Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said that “it’s too early to tell” if the Pre’s a hit.

Well, this should put his mind at ease and boost sales. The question is, is this just a one-week sale or a permanent price drop? You better grab one quick, just in case.

Motion Sensitive Remote ControlSure, the Wiimote really upped the ante when it comes to motion control, but only with video games. This conceptual “Remotion” however, from Ryan Sorrell uses motion control with your living room TV. Even if it does look like a futuristic dustbuster.

To adjust the volume, just shake it up and down. Move it left or right to channel surf. Pretty easy and effortless. Plus it will at least force your lazy butt to move around some and burn at least a few calories.
