Digital Wrench tells you when bolts are tight

Posted in Tools by Conner Flynn on July 28th, 2009

Digital Wrench tells you when bolts are tightI don’t know about you but I don’t need a fancy digital wrench to tell me when bolts are tight. But if you do, then maybe it’s time you go digital with this wrench. This wrench will give you a mathematically precise torque reading.

Just be careful as the wrench “uses the distance from the leverage point to the bolt head to calculate torque, so moving your hand closer to the bolt head will throw off its reading.” How reliable. It can be yours for just $323. Digital is definitely the way to go.

lumixfz35One of the things that always appealed to many users of point-and-shoot cameras is that you could get them with giant zoom ranges and the ability to record video as well. Some DSLRs will record video now as well, but a point-and-shoot is cheaper and easier to use for most users.

Panasonic has announced its latest super zoom camera called the FZ35 boasting an 18x zoom lens and the ability to record HD video. The camera has a dedicated record button and the zoom lens is fully functional while recording.

lumixzr1I have been waiting for a point-and-shoot camera to come along that has a shutter speed fast enough for me to leave my DSLR at home in most instances. The problem I have with most point-and-shoots is that they can’t take pictures of fast action.

Panasonic has announced a new point-and-shoot called the DMC-ZR1 that puts the world’s first 0.3mm thick aspherical lens into a compact body. The thin lens means that the camera can be compact and have a 25mm ultra-wide-angle lens with 8x optical zoom.

GPU market shows impressive growth in Q2 2009

jpr-logo-sbThe fates of the computer and GPU market are closely tied together. Poor computer sales means the GPU market is doing poorly. At the same time robust GPU sales means that computers are selling well also. That means that the GPU market can be a great indicator of how the PC market is doing.

Research firm Jon Peddie Research has released its GPU shipment results for Q2 2009. The research firm notes that while the market is still in a recession, Q2 showed signs of improvement. Q1 to Q2 sales traditionally decline according to JPR with summer vacations and consumers getting ready for the fall.

Bomb USB Flash Drive

Bomb USB Flash DriveThis USB drive concept is a throwback to the days of mustache twirling villains and bombs with crazy long fuses that usually blew up in your hands. It’s from designer Joel Escalona who probably likes to tie helpless women to railroad tracks while laughing maniacally.

Someone manufacture this thing already, so Joel doesn’t end up wearing black and white stripes and working on the chain gang. Sure it looks deadly(In a comical way) in black, but in red, yellow and white it just looks silly. Still, Joel thinks it’s “da bomb”, so what do ya say?

Withings WiFi Body Scale sends your weight to your iPhone

Withings WiFi Body Scale sends your weight to your iPhoneThe Withings scale has a sleek and stylish look along with WiFi functionality. The latter will beam your weight and body fat measurements to a web dashboard that can be accessed using a free iPhone app. This way you can track your measurements to help motivate yourself.

It even has “ideal” values that you can try to live up to. Somehow, we think that if you are not motivated enough get fit without this thing, than this isn’t going to do much except get you down. And at $183, it’s hard to get motivated to even buy this.
