iPhone app helps you find Cruelty-Free productsWe are all consumers. There’s no getting around it. We rely on massed produced products in every part of our lives. Some consumers want to know if the product they are buying is cruelty-free or not. There’s really no need to have an animal suffer in order to sell us a product, so many choose not to support such companies.

PETA has your back with an iPhone app to help you identify cruelty-free products. The app is called “Be Nice To Bunnies” and is available for $1.99 on iTunes. Check out a video below.

Tauntaun sleeping bag closer to becoming a reality

Posted in Star Wars by Conner Flynn on July 12th, 2009

Tauntaun sleeping bagYou may remember ThinkGeek posting an April Fool’s joke about a Tauntaun sleeping bag in April. We covered it here ourselves. Well, ThinkGeek was flooded with e-mails from people who, like us, wanted to own one for real. They got so many emails that they decided to explore the possibility.

The good news for us is that things are looking up. Think Geek PR man Shane Peterman says: “We are definitely trying to make it into an actual item to be sold on our site. As of right now, it’s still an “if,” but it’s turning into more of a “when.” Things are looking pretty good, we just don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves. There’s certainly been enough of a demand, both from customers and from those of us that work here. Right now, we’re aiming to have it available for the holidays or, at the latest, the 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back next spring.”

NES controller netbook coverThis beautiful item is the kind of thing that separates the real nerds from the pretenders. The NES controller netbook cover is for true nerds only.

What’s not to love? It looks just like the classic controller, is soft to the touch and keeps your netbook nice and cozy. It’s made of felt, so don’t be afraid to caress and gently stroke it my dork friend.

Lego block calculatorCalculators come in all shapes and sizes these days. One of the geekiest and neatest may just be this Lego calculator. It could help you count all of the Lego pieces that you have stored in that dumpster next to the garage or count how many bricks it will take to make a cool statue.

This one comes in four colors, red, blue, green and black. Not sure if you can actually connect your Lego pieces to this though and get creative. The building block calculator will be available in August, but you can pre-order it now for $27.

Sweet Cake makes anything look like a huge cupcakeYou know those cupcake wrappers? Yeah this is like that but much much larger. Apparently the idea behind “Sweet Cake” is to make anything and everything resemble a cupcake. You can use it as a planter, a kiddie pool, sandbox…

Why, you could even fill it up with a ton of cupcake batter and let it bake in the hot sun if you were so inclined. Show your love of cupcakes in a whole new way. It will cost you 149,00€ and some strange stares from the neighbors.

Solar powered e-ink displays are finally here. Neoluxiim recently showed them off for use in point-of-sale advertising. So all of your future e-ink ads will be in color for a more rich impulse purchase to be made by you.

While all ads are annoying, it’s nice to know that those energy-wasting flatscreen kiosks are on the way out. In the future you’ll still be annoyed by the ads, but you can at least rest assured that they will be greener.

Possibly fake video of the PS3 slim surfacesWe’ll leave it up to you to decide if this video is real or fake. It shows off a purportedly “stolen” PS3 slim at a street market in the Philippines. You decide.

If real, the PS3 Slim certainly looks like one sexy beast. Nothing too Earth-shattering here though. The video below suffers from glaucoma and shows a black plastic box with the new rounded-off logo style from the PSPgo.

Stackable iPod dock concept

Stackable iPod dock conceptHere’s an interesting concept that makes the iPod dock more practical. The idea is that you can stack as many of the modules as you like, which lets you have multiple speakers, lights, even air purifiers. Usually iPod docks are pretty boring, but this one opens up a whole world of possibilities.

Maybe they could add a messaging screen on the front and it could display your instant messages. Maybe one could be a USB hub, or have a hard drive. The possibilities are endless.
