PSP Go forces you to buy all-new accessories

Posted in PSP Go! by Conner Flynn on June 8th, 2009

PSP Go forces you to buy all-new accessoriesSony has a bunch of accessories that will be available for PSP Go when it hits US shelves on October 1. The usual stuff, like cases, wrist straps, Sony-branded screen protectors etc. Problem is the handheld doesn’t have a standard mini USB port like the PSP-3000, so you will have to buy all new accessories.

The PSP Go has a new multifunction port on its base that is used for everything, whether it’s data transfer, charging or video output. Asking owners of the older model to change a USB cable would have been fine, we think. But the fact that components like A/V cables, voice headsets and pretty much anything made to work with the 3000, are completely incompatible is a real slap in the face to PSP owners.

Palm sells 50,000 Pre smartphones in opening weekend

Posted in Palm by Conner Flynn on June 8th, 2009

Verizon getting the Palm Pre in 6 monthsPalm and Sprint haven’t confirmed the numbers officially, but according to JPMorgan in a Wall Street Journal article, “sales in the first two days probably exceeded 50,000.” The figure was “aligned with expectations, but probably fell short of the 146,000 reported first-gen iPhone sales” during its opening weekend. And that was due to “capacity constraints in manufacturing.”

So it looks like the Pre launch was a success. Next weekend’s sales may put it all in perspective. It’s great news for Palm, but it isn’t all roses. We’ll have to see if new Palm owners are still having problems or not.

Vertu Ascent Ti Damascus Steel

Posted in Mobile Phones by Conner Flynn on June 7th, 2009

The kind used throughout the centuries to make Samurai swords. This results in the metal being harder. The specs aren’t exactly mind blowing, with a QVGA display, S40 user interface, GSM/UMTS connectivity, a 3.2-megapixel camera with LED flash and 4GB of internal memory.

There will only be a hundred available, so expect to pay a pretty penny for this handset that’s as tough as a sword. We don’t have a price just yet.
