Nokia E72 promotional video leakedThe Nokia E71x isn’t a very old phone at all, but it’s about to get outdone by the business-class E72, seen here in a leaked promotional video. One of the most interesting things is the optical mouse instead of the clickable D-pad usually found in similar models.

Other upgrades include a five megapixel camera, a relocated headphone jack. That’s about all of the info we have. The YouTube video’s been pulled, but luckily IntoMobile snagged it quickly if you want to have a look.

PS2 casemod inside of a book about video game violencePolitical statement or just a literary mod? You decide. Most gamers are well aware former attorney Jack Thompson’s stance on gaming. It’s nice to see that his book embraces gaming at long last, with a little help from Mattigus, a user on the Halflife2.Net forums who is simply brilliant.

Don’t worry. He bought the book used on eBay, so no 13-cent royalty for Mr. Thompson. It was also a library book, which not surprisingly, was never even checked out. It is an actual functioning mod.

VAIO P gets Atom Z550 processor, SSD and WiMAX

Posted in Netbook by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2009

vaiop-sbLooks like the Sony VAIO P is learning some new tricks. These new processor and drive upgrades will have the Tiny PC taring up benchmarks at twice the speed of the original. Most of that improved speed comes from the SSD drive, but the Atom Z550 sure doesn’t hurt.

Over in Japan they are getting a WiMAX version, which doesn’t mean crap to us since most of the US doesn’t have WiMax coverage. As usual, Japan is always beating us.

Microsoft to release Project Natal-centric Xbox console next fall?

Posted in Microsoft by Conner Flynn on June 13th, 2009

Microsoft announces "Project Natal" motion controller for Xbox 360According to 1Up, Microsoft is planning to release a new Xbox console this fall that will focus on Project Natal’s motion-sensing technology. Supposedly it will include native Project Natal support and backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 software. It would be released in fall 2010.

We aren’t buying it. It’s too soon for a full console devoted to the new technology. The Xbox 360 has a lot of lifespan left on it’s own. That’s our take anyway.

World’s smallest VGA display

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on June 12th, 2009

World's smallest VGA displayGetting video on a small screen is not a huge thing and it’s not new. But how about video on a screen that’s insanely small? Kopin has managed to pack a liquid-crystal display (LCD) with VGA resolution (600 x 480 pixels) onto a screen that measures just over a quarter-inch diagonally. To put that into perspective, that means that the individual color dots are 2.9 x 8.7 micrometers. A typical piece for paper is about 100 micrometers thick.

So who is going to use such a tiny screen? Who is this screen for? Kopin thinks the new screen is a stepping stone on the way to creating a screen with 2,048 x 2,048-pixel resolution the size of a postage stamp. Great HD quality…If you are an ant.

Monster announces super thin HDMI cable

Posted in Monster by Shane McGlaun on June 12th, 2009

monsterthinhdmi-sbI think that all HDMI cables are just as good as any other brand. I have tried out the expensive HDMI cables before and I have never noticed any difference between a $50 cable and the cheap cable that comes with that Walmart Blu-ray player.

Still some people want the best cables they can get, even if the difference in quality is questionable. For the person who wants name brand stuff Monster Cable has announced a new line of super thin HDMI cables that are offered in multiple lengths.

Dell download store offers Microsoft software

Posted in Dell by Shane McGlaun on June 12th, 2009

delldownloadWhen it comes to buying software I typically prefer to have CDs or DVDs that I can keep up with rather than a digital file that I can lose or erase accidentally. Still, I can see the appeal of having all the software you use in digital files so you don’t need to keep up with discs.

The Dell download store announced today that it has added the ability to download Microsoft software like Word, Excel, and Outlook. The advantage of getting the software as a digital download is that you can save a bit of money.

codmappackOne of the best shooters to hit the PC and consol systems in a while was Call of Duty: World at War. The game had great action, good multiplayer support, and voice-overs from top talent. Overall, the game was fantastic.
