Almost 700,000 Palm Pre apps downloaded so far

Almost 700,000 Palm Pre apps downloaded so farIt hasn’t been long and there may not be a ton of Pre apps available yet, but apparently there are enough for an impressive 666,511 downloads as of June 17th. By now it is likely close to or past the 700,000 mark.

I’d call that a success. As shown in the above graph, they’ve been rising steadily as more apps become available, and we don’t see any signs of the numbers dropping. It’s still early, but things are looking great for Pre app downloads. That graph is sure to spike as more fart and beer apps show up.

Far from the 1B Apple app store downloads in 9 months http://toucharcade.com/2009/04/23/apple-reaches-1-billion-apps-downloaded-from-app-store/ At this rate Palm will only have 7M in the same time frame. How is that even close?

Not even close. Thats why its embarrassing for Palm to even announce these numbers. It just looks worse, but I guess looks good for the uninformed buyer or the lowly Palm fans.

  3. Tim Says:

And your comment Mike is why people say that you and your fan boys piss people off

  4. Shawn Says:

I don’t think fanboys realize that these number will most likely grow exponentially, just like apples did. Right now there are only a few hundred thousand handsets out and only 30 apps.. As both the number of handsets and apps rise, the downloads will grow exponentially. Also, Apple is selling in 20 countries right now compared to the Pre which just got released in 1, it’s not really apples to apples here, pun intended..

Apple doesn’t have to be a failure for Palm to succeed and vice versa, so grow up.. Everyone should be hoping that Palm is super successful, it will only spur better and faster innovation from the competition, and everyone wins..

WOW iPhone owners are really really pretentious…

So were Palm management. CEO and his cronies.

    Regarding Apple:

“We’ve learned and struggled for a few years here figuring out how to make a decent phone,” Ed Colligan apparently laughed about with John Markoff last Thursday morning. “PC guys are not going to just figure this out. They’re not going to just walk in.”

  7. Anonymous Says:

palm is U.S. based so everyone in the U.S. should hope for it to be successful. iphone is a great phone as well as the blackberry curve. there are other phones out there that are great for their owners as well. diferent phones for different people. it is not all about the iphone!

  8. Joe Says:

I didn’t realize that not having the same numbers as the Apple app store meant it wasn’t a success….

  9. Cold Reality Says:

Beat it, Apple fanboys. You’re really friggin’ tedious.

PS — if app availability and downloads are the sole measure of success, the Macintosh SUCKS because it’s WAY behind Windows. Oops.

  10. Phife Says:

Verizon’s on board to pick up this handest in a few months. The Palm Pre is going to be in lot of people’s hands, probably more than iphone. With this in mind, there’s going to be a ton of apps written for the OS in the upcoming months. Get off your high horse, iphone people.. The best days of the Pre are yet to come…
