ultimate_ears_700-sbThere is one universal truth when it comes to buying any brand of MP3 player, the stock earphones won’t be very good. The earphones that came with my iPhone were horrible. The sound quality was poor and they had no bass, and they slipped easily out of my ears. One of the best ways to make the music from your MP3 player sound better is by upgrading your earphones to a quality set. Today we are going to look at a high-end set of earphones that will work with any MP3 player out there called the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones. Read on for all the details on the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones.

Specifications

The Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones are in-ear earphones that come with a variety of different cushions for a custom fit. The frequency response for the earphones is 10Hz to 16.5 kHz and the impedance is 40 ohms at 1kHz. Sensitivity for the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones is 113 dB SPL/mW at 1kHz. The tiny little earphones weight 0.41 ounces and block 26dB of external sounds. The input connector is 3.5mm and the cable is 46-inches long.

In Use

I have used the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones extensively with my iPhone. The earphones lack a microphone, but when I am working out, I really don’t want to talk to anyone anyway. It’s common for earphones and headphones to have a plug that is too fat for the first generation iPhone’s recessed headphone jack. Thankfully, the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones fit perfectly with my first gen iPhone.

The thing I liked best about the design of the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones is that the earphones are tiny. Typically, the housing around the drivers on earphones is as large as the cushions that go into your ears. The Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones housing is tiny making for a very comfortable fit during extended wear. The small size also means that the earphones are very light, which is a big deal if you plan to wear them during activity. The lightweight makes for comfort and means that the earphones stay in place without having to run the wires over your ears for stability.

A full array of ear tips is included to allow for a more customized fit with silicone ear-cushions in small, medium, and large sizes as well as two sets of foam Comply ear tips. I preferred to use the large set of silicone cushions. Also included with the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones is a hard case for storing the earphones during travel.

The real worth of any headphones or earphones is in the sound quality. The Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones are tiny, but boy do they offer big sound. Bass is deep and fantastic, highs and mid range sounds are crisp and well separated allowing for a full body sound. I listen to the same tracks each time I work out and the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones allowed me to hear things in the music that I have never heard with other earphones I have used. The sound quality is simply top notch with the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones.

The only downside to the earphones is that they are expensive at an MSRP of $229.99. That price makes the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones cost more than most of the MP3 players you may use them with, but man do they sound good. If you consider yourself an audiophile, this is the set of earphones to own.

Pros

  • Great sound quality
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Expensive

Verdict

The Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones are undeniably expensive, but they are also undeniably great. If you want the best and your budget can afford it, the Ultimate Ears 700 Noise Isolating Earphones is what you want to buy.
