T-Mobile G1 v2 made by Motorola, not HTC?The folks over at Boy Genius Report received a tip that they say has more or less confirmed that the phone is going to be manufactured by Motorola for T-Mobile. Not HTC. Why isn’t HTC in the picture on this one? They have no idea.

If you look at the keyboard font and the buttons on the front of the device there are some things that HTC just wouldn’t do. They’re Moto style. This would be good news for Motorola. We’ll keep an eye on this one.

Best Buy actually had it listed but was removed and is now cached. Anyway, it looks like the Harmony Adapter to be available in several weeks on May 31st in the USA.

The price isn’t bad for the luxury of not using the PS3 game controller as a remote. How many of you have been doing just that forever now?

Rubber OLED developed for flexible, stretchable screens

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on May 11th, 2009

Rubber OLED developed for flexible, stretchable screensElectrical engineering researchers at the University of Tokyo have developed a flexible, stretchable OLED that acts like rubber. It doesn’t tear or break when stretched. They produce the material by spraying a layer of carbon nanotubes with a fluoro-rubber compound, which creates a rubbery, conducive material.

At 10-centimeters square, the current monochrome display prototype has a resolution of just 256 pixels and can apparently be folded about 1,000 times with out degrading, falling apart, or tearing. In short, our future may be filled with rubber bouncing balls that have OLED screens.

Dish Network gives customers DVR access from anywhere

Posted in Digital Video by Shane McGlaun on May 11th, 2009

dishnetworkdvraccess-sbThe cable company that serves my neighborhood sucks. They have about only a few HD channels and didn’t have DVR’s until last year. The company is totally stuck in the early 2000′s. I opted to go with DirecTV instead of cable or Dish Network because DirecTV had more HD offerings at the time.

DirecTV launched a new app for the iPhone not too long ago that allows you to access your DVR, even if it’s not connected to the Internet, and schedule recordings. Dish Network has announced that it is now offering a service called Remote Access that allows users of Dish Network DVRs to access their DVR and record programs from any computer in the world.

AT&T GoPhone gets unlimited calling plan

Posted in AT&T by Shane McGlaun on May 11th, 2009

gophone-sbMost of us will agree that contracts required to get mobile phones today are not how we would prefer things work. I always wanted cellular service that worked like my old landline. I pay for what I use and if I don’t like the service, I change at will.

The closest we get to that sort of service with mobile phones are the pay-as-you-go plans like the AT&T GoPhone. AT&T has announced that the GoPhone now has an unlimited calling option that lets you call all you want for $3 per day.
