Get a grip on your DSi with the Cyber DSi Game GripI can only guess that this grip is designed for those whose palms get all sweaty when playing the DSi. And you wouldn’t want to drop your expensive portable, now would you? Well, the Cyber DSi Game Grip will keep it firmly in hands.

It even provides enough space to store another game cartridge on the back with an SD memory card. It’s currently available in Japan, but if you have a severe case of sweaty palm you could always import one.

White PS3 Dual Shock 3 surfaces in USSomething interesting happened at a Walmart in Florida. A white Dual Shock 3 controller for the PS3 seems to have surfaced. It’s possible that it may be announced sometime later this year. Possibly at E3. So far, this color is only available in Japan, but does a white Dual Shock sighting mean a release in either North America or Canada?

Sony has responded and denied the existence of the white controller as well as plans for releasing it Stateside in a color that is not black. Maybe some guy just spray painted one and re-boxed it.

New Apple ad responds to Microsoft Laptop Hunters

Posted in Apple by Conner Flynn on May 13th, 2009

applead from Gizmodo on Vimeo.
In Apple’s typically smug fashion, they have once again responded to Microsoft’s Laptop Hunters ads. This one features a Lauren-type actress giving her list of specifications, and the suited PCs are disqualified a few at a time, until eventually they all leave.

The entire ad war is pretty silly and stupid. Having said that, say what you want about Microsoft’s ads, but they are rarely condescending and smug as Apple ads often are. Just kinda leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

DisplayLink sells over a million USB GPUs

Posted in Computer Components by Shane McGlaun on May 13th, 2009

displaylink-sbNot so long ago if you wanted to add a second or third display to your computer that meant you needed a video card with multiple outputs or maybe even an additional video card. That meant a significant outlay of money and buying new hardware.

DisplayLink came along and made adding multiple monitors as easy as plugging in a USB device. The company says that it has now sold more than one million USB GPUs since it launched. DisplayLink certified GPUs are available in a wide variety of products from many of the largest computer and accessory makers around.

City of Heroes goes rogue with expansion pack

Posted in Games by Shane McGlaun on May 13th, 2009

cohrouge-sbBack when City of Heroes first launched I played it a bit. It was cool to have a MMORPG where you could build your own superhero and live out your Marvel fantasies online. The game lost my interest rather quickly though and I stopped playing before I reached any sort of rank.

Fans of CoH will be glad to hear that the game has a new expansion pack coming called City of Heroes Rogue. The expansion takes players to a parallel universe where the city is ruled by Statesman’s opposite called Tyrant.

Sony whips out X-series Walkman

Posted in Sony by Shane McGlaun on May 13th, 2009

sonyxwalkman-sbThe Sony Walkman has been around for decades. When I was a kid, the name was tied to big yellow cassette tape players. Later the Walkman was a huge set of earphones with a silver antenna a mile long for tuning FM radio. Today the Walkman name is on mobile phones and MP3 players.

Sony has announced a new top-of-the-line Walkman MP3 player called the X-series. The series has integrated Wi-Fi, Slacker Radio, YouTube and integrated noise reduction technology. The device is optimized for both audio and video with a 3-inch OLED touch screen with high contrast and fast response rates.

Panda Bear USB flash driveWith this USB flash drive it’s like you have sawed a Panda in half everytime you go to use it. Ling-Ling here will go on a bamboo diet and eat your data instead. A portion of the proceeds (5%) goes to the WWF to save real pandas, with a minimum annual donation of $25,000. And you love Pandas right?

It’s available in 2GB, 8GB, and 16GB sizes. It’s a nice change of pace that they opted to saw him in half rather than decapitate him. For once.

Asus Dual Hybrid TV CardThe new Asus My Cinema-EHD3-100/NAQ/FM/AV/MCE RC PCI-express Dual TV card is designed for users who want to watch and record both digital (ATSC/QAM) and analog (NTSC) TV channels at the same time. The device is embedded with an MPEG2 hardware encoder that dramatically reduces CPU loading while guaranteeing high quality video.

Using the PCI Express x1 interface, it will get transmission speeds of up to 500MB/s(almost 3 times faster than that of a conventional PCI bus which runs at 133MB/s). This will give you smooth pictures regardless of the broadcast content. The Asus My Cinema-EHD3-100/NAQ/FM/AV/MCE RC will also let you keep a constant eye on what’s going on on TV while engaged in other PC-based activities. Dubbed ASUS GadgeTV, this widget adds a small window on the Windows Vista sidebar, allowing users to watch record and take snapshots of live TV from their sidebars.

iRobot Create draws on the floor

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on May 12th, 2009

Who needs a printer when you have a robot that will gladly print on your floor? Don’t worry all you clean-freaks, it also cleans up after itself. This Roomba was hacked and outfitted with printer parts and now gladly treats your floor like a wall to be graffitied. Is that a word? It is now.

It draws, or prints in powder. Luckily after you are finished drawing, the bot can just vacuum it all up. Might be a fun way for spies to deliver messages. Be here at 3:15, get the message from the bot and order it to clean up and erase the evidence.

Diesel DZ9044 watch shows time on the side

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on May 12th, 2009

Diesel DZ9044 watch shows time on the sideIt might be hard to use this watch at first. You are used to taking a quick glance at the watch face to see the time, but that won’t help here. The watch face is on the side, showing you the current time in up to four different time zones.

Is it practical? Not really. It’s more of a watch for those who want to be different. Also maybe for those who want to keep the time selfishly to themselves. It’s available in durable solid stainless steel with a black ion-plated finish and a matching black leather band.

SlingPlayer for iPhone: $30, WiFi only

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on May 12th, 2009

SlingPlayer for iPhone: $30, WiFi onlyThe SlingPlayer app for iPhone will finally be available tomorrow. There has been a lot of discussion as whether or not AT&T (or other carriers) would let this bandwidth sucking app use their networks. Well, looks like the carriers had it their way and the Slingplayer app will work only with WIFI on iPhone.

If you want to use SlingPlayer on 3G, you’ll need a Blackberry or any other smartphone. AT&T complains that SlingPlayer would bring its wireless network down, while they’ve been trying to push their bandwidth-hog services like AT&T mobile TV. Which costs $30 per month. Thanks but no thanks.
