Wii Punch Out Game launches

Posted in Nintendo by Shane McGlaun on May 19th, 2009

punchout-sbOne of the best old school Nintendo games from my youth was Punch Out. I remember thinking how badly the game cheated when I couldn’t beat that fat guy, only to realize you had to punch his jiggly belly then hit him in the jaw.

Yesterday marked the return of Punch Out with the launch of the game for the Nintendo Wii. Like the boxing mini game in Wii Sports, Punch Out uses the Nunchuck and Wii Remote to allow players to actually throw punches in the game. Sounds like a workout for sure.

Wal-Mart launching video game trade-in kiosksIf you’re sick of trading in your used games at gamestop or Amazon, Wal-mart would like to get your old games. Wal-Mart is currently testing an automated video game trade-in kiosk at 77-stores throughout the Northeastern United States.

Gamers can redeem “the trade-in value back to a credit card, which takes 2-3 days, according to the instructions on the company’s website.” Just scan the bar code on the game box in order to receive a quote. Once you accept the quote, insert the game discs (We aren’t sure if the discs are checked for damage before being accepted). The rest of the process is unclear.

PS3 Slim spyshots hit with Cease and Desist

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on May 18th, 2009

Slim PS3 spotted?Remember that slim PS3 we told you about the other day? Looks like Engadget and Ubergizmo both received cease and desist emails from some mysterious Chinese manufacturer.

Why would a Chinese manufacturer, who is not Sony, be sending these out? Are they trying to protect their knockoff? We have no idea. But our guess would be that the emails could be coming from say, the manufacturer of the box or something. Because otherwise, it’s just too silly to think that a knockoff company is trying to protect their inferior crap product.

One popularly-discussed option is a $20 “limited-access” plan which could be potentially offered alongside a cheaper iPhone to be introduced at WWDC. The big question is, what exactly does “limited access” mean? If it won’t allow you to do anything fun, no one will care.

Well, UMID has taken the mbook M1 and gone black with it. The Atom-powered clamshell looks much sleeker with the black keyboard. And you can take it more seriously too.

We don’t know when the full black model will be released, but it should be pretty soon as they seem to have tackled previous build quality issues.
